Spidey series came to a happy end. Everyone is surely tired of Horizon by now. What exclusives does Sony even have nowadays with amazing replayability?
And for story heavy titles - youtube playthroughs exist as well as blogs and wikis.
Thing is, nor PayStation 4 nor 5 really had many exclusives to justify buying em. Gran Turismo Sport was meh game of the entire series, and past that it was Horizon and then new Spidey series.
Here’s the thing with story-only games, these days - everyone and their brother’s cousin’s grandfather makes playthrough vids and story recaps to a point where if you wanted the story, its free and easy to access. Balancing single and multiplayer just about went out the window the past 10 years.
But what can you do with $800 PayStation besides play games? Nothing. $1200 PC gets you up-to PS3 era console games AND pc games to date, all for free. PC is just a very lucrative of a purchase these days when games are 70-90 Nintendorra.
There’s nothing left besides Gran Turismo for years now, and I’m not shelling $800 for a GT7 access box.

But Expanse didn’t finish showing us the rest of the books, so either there will be a mad gap from what most people saw in the show or who knows what. Either way, TIL that a game is being made and I wanna see what comes from it.
If its just a “movie” or book game like Witcher - that would be perfect. Fans want to immerse and interact with the main story than see something entirely friggin unrelated.
That’s when you start completely fresh and use only one or two iconic elements that define a universe, which were sabers and mandos. Expanse is pretty grounded and honestly doesn’t really have much oomph (besides the immortals) in a way to avoid using main cast, so it kinda doesn’t work here yet.

However their achieve it, if characters won’t have exact likenessses from the TV show - no one’s going to care, and thus actors are the models. With show’s cast as models, there’s little artistic expression involved in copying their look as best as possible, unless game goes for derivatives like drawings or cell shading. If they go for derivative looks, then having real artists in the first place would cut down on middle bullshittery of using AI.
Let’s do a hot take though - zoomers or whatever newer gen is are so out of natural touch and wired into their doom scroll that they won’t even bother looking for porn.
