When I was looking for coding jobs with a decent portfolio, but no computer science degree I got 1 interview out of 300 applications. They absolutely will not look at you if you don’t have the CS degree, or already know someone at the company who can force you in.

Same. I also used to have a great store near me that carried random electronic parts, motors, hobby shit, bits of hardware. Any time I needed to fix something, or wanted to make a little device I could go there for supplies. RIP Active Surplus.

Hey, if anyone else or any store can get me the things I need within the week I 100% go there. but no one else is stocking specific temperature controllers anywhere near me. I can’t get 3D printer resin anywhere that isn’t a 40 minute drive away. Specific wiring I need, AliExpress is the only other company with it. Amazon stocks a lot of niche things that no one else is carrying.

Not ones that can get me the things I need within the month.

Nah, some shit would take weeks to get to me from the few other alternate vendors, and I;m not waiting that long.

There are certain things I can’t get anywhere near me from anyone other than Amazon, and I live in a city of 6 million people. Sadly I need to use Amazon about once a month. Getting groceries from them is ridiculous though.

I was stating it as not a disadvantage of waiting 2 weeks for an empty showing. The viewing experience in a theater with an empty showing kicks the crap out of any home viewing experience.

I’ve never had it be inconvenient, just wait 2 or 3 weeks after release and most movie showings are pretty empty. It’s not like you can legally watch the movie at home at that point anyway.

Clearly, cause now a days they have designated seating and actively displayed sales, so you can always sit exactly where you want, and go to show times with fewer people so you don’t have as many around. I’ve gotten the perfect seats in nearly empty theaters every time I’ve seen a movie for the last few years, and it’s always been an awesome experience.

Nope, completely different experience. Sitting a few feet from a 60" TV does not have the same sense of scale as a 40’ screen, unless you’re sitting at the very back of the theater. A 40’ screen feels huge.

Unless your TV is 40 feet, it isn’t beating the theater experience.
