True, but it seems like the EUs interests aligns with public interest a lot more often than it does in the U.S.
Id trade for sure. As an American, I am conditioned to settle for the lesser of two evils.

To get pedantic for a second. The title of this post is “Microsoft gives…” as if this was an altruistic act that Microsoft decided to do for some people, when the article states they did it to comply with a law.
A much better title would have been “EU Forces Microsoft to Give Users More Control:” It returns the credit to the people who deserve the credit and clarifies that it wasn’t something Microsoft did willingly.
In addition to what others have said, sadly the myth persists among some people. I have a good friend who I used to play Magic: The Gathering with. I had been playing for years before I met him (since 3rd edition) and had a pretty decent collection, and he invested a lot of money in cards in the next few years.
At one point I was moving away to a place where I didn’t know anyone and needed to travel light, so instead of selling my collection I gave them to him.
I ended up coming back to my home state and we became roommates. Then he became ‘born again’ and instead of giving me those cards back, he burnt them all.
I’m not really mad at the guy for it, he was doing what he thought was right, but I do regret giving him the cards in the first place.
I would go so far as to say all of them. The whole idea of Satan is ridiculous, it’s “The Boogeyman” for adults.
I’m more surprised that a city in Germany didn’t switch to Linux a decade or more ago.
Late to the party is still showing up, good for them.
Thank you! My ex gf and I used to play a ton of Kingdom. I knew about “West of Loathing”, but this is the first time hearing about “Shadows Over Loathing”.
Why would you mow the grass right after it rains?
Edit: You are comparing an unrelated “pleasant” smell (I’m neutral on cut grass, but I get your point) with something that people already know how it’s supposed to smell.
With fragrances, neither males or females naturally smell like flowers. A lot of women seem to enjoy smelling/smelling like flowers.
As a man I also enjoy smelling flowers (but I’m not big on artificial fragrances in general) so I don’t feel like a grass smelling cake is a good comparison.
Hence why I said that wasn’t the only factor in determining my vote.
The question is though, where will it end? I’m 51 years old and ever since I have been able to vote the choices have been between a shit bag, and an even worse shit bag.
At some point we have to put pressure on the DNC to put up someone who is actually woth voting for, and if they know we will always vote for the lesser evil, what incentive do they have to change their strategy?
Harris was already a Republican in all but name and she only looked good compared to Hitler 2.0, if this trend continues the only “choice” will be between a far right fascist, and an extremely far right fascist.
What gets me is that, according to the gender stereotype, women enjoy the flowery type scents, so you would think that if ladies find that pleasing that men would want to smell that way.
Personally, I like to smell clean and I don’t buy soap based on the color of the bottle or whether it says “for men” in it. My shampoo/conditioner has a nice citrus aroma, but more importantly it does a great job on my hair.
The normal, comfortable way. If you are a man you have to hike your foot up so that it is resting above the knee on your opposite leg.
Ladies can’t do that because you might see up their dress. Because ladies always wear dresses.
I live in an RV, which has a special toilet designed to use very little water.
I don’t think it would work even if I could afford to retrofit my bathroom, as water pressure is often an issue when traveling.
Most likely? Unfortunately most people either don’t care about software freedom, don’t know about it, are actually scared of it, or just don’t have the time or know how to switch. Couple that with the fact that Microsoft and Apple are determined to lock it down and the trend seems clear to me.
Ofc I would Love to be wrong, I just don’t have much faith in people knowing or caring about what is in their best interest.
How is that insane? I keep a tiny trash can with a step open lid next to the toilet specifically for that. The lid and frequently changing the bags prevent it from stinking, plus it uses way less water.
Personally I feel like they have all the benefits of bidets and TP, with none of the drawbacks.
Sure, but I think the point is that we have to recognize the mistakes in order to prevent repeating them.
It’s not like Harris is ancient like Trump or Biden, and I think a lot of voters are convinced age always equals wisdom, so I don’t think they would accept anyone younger than Harris anyway.
I don’t get this one. They were both pro genocide, so how was Trump’s version any better?
From the POV of someone who just wants the Genocide to stop, “Burning all Palestinians and tuning Gaza into New Vegas” and “Burning all Palestinians and tuning Gaza into vacation homes for rich Israelis” is functionally equivalent.
That was by no means the only issue I based my vote on, but I also don’t think it’s unreasonable for someone to conclude that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil
She has a decent shot of winning too, with the Republicans who are paying attention and the Democrats who aren’t.
Unfortunately politics is just a popularity contest for most people, so a lot of people aren’t paying attention.
I agree with replacing the Dems, but are you meaning to say the alternatives to FPTP are worse? FPTP is the reason we are in the situation we are in imo.
I’m 99% certain Musk helped Trump rig this election. I think the only reason the Dems didn’t fight it was because they had spent the last 4 years telling everyone how solid our election system was and near impossible to rig.
IBM 386DX with a ‘turbo’ button.
I used Apple II’s in school and older “IBM” PC’s but my family never got one. I had to buy one myself once I moved out.
I remember learning to write BASIC and Logo programs in grade school. I even went to ‘computer camp’ during summer school, but that was more ‘play Oregon Trail/ Carmen San Diego and print out basic ass ascii art’ than learning.
Weirdly, after 6th grade the whole ‘computer literacy’ thing at our school quietly disappeared. In 8th grade I learned to type, on an actual typewriter. Maybe they thought the whole ‘computer’ thing was a fad, or they could have just been cheapskates. Idk.
