That’s an EXTREME oversimplification of history.

Fedora. Specifically I’ve been using Silverblue recently, very stable system for me.
When a base of people can talk in circles for hours about why they don’t believe in proven facts, they have a hard time defending the fact their cult leaders isn’t simply weird as fuck.
You’re not wrong, but in what world is that even comparable (or relevant in conparison) to trying to overturn an election?
No matter what you think of Harris’ policies, shes the only actual candidate on the ballot.
Because one is a traitor that attempted to overturn a lawful election result.
No matter what you think of Kamala, supporting Trump is a joke.
Thats a weird way to say the industry’s been releasing shitty games.
Using Fedora Sway Atomic has been the most consistent Linux experience I’ve had.
Yeah, my parents are perfect, my grandparents are like ~80% there. One side is a bit religious conservative (thankfully anti-Trump), and the other side’s grandfather has an odd idea that all black people naturally don’t want to work. Other than that one sentiment, he isn’t racist in the slightest, but he insists that’s the case.
This is what I use (with zsh):
yt-audio() {
yt-dlp --no-playlist -f 'ba' -x --audio-format mp3 $1
}
yt-audio-playlist() {
yt-dlp -f 'ba' -x --audio-format mp3 $1
}
It takes the best quality available and downloads it to mp3.
I do exactly this for downloading music, I aliased my preferred options to ‘yt-audio’
I think any math teacher who sees you tattooed a formula on yourself and doesn’t let you look at it is an absolute dickhead. (Assuming the dickhead won’t allow formula sheets)
I dont know what they’re on about with Mitchell.
(Jackie Mitchell struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gherig in 1931 and was kicked out of the league a month later)
This lacks SO much context, it was an EXHIBITION match and she never played in the MLB, she played in the minors. Anyone reading that would assume she struck out two greats in a real game and was banned by the MLB.
There’s a lot of truth to she shooting thing, that should absolutely be co-ed.
However, my point still stands: women and men should be separated if the sport has a physical component to its competition. (i.e. any sort of contact.)
Well I hope the goals you’re working towards are achieved and end up being fulfilling to you. Not religious personally but I think Jainism is a pretty apt comparison to how I feel about this, seriously, good luck!
This is embarrassing, I hate it when people don’t capitalize their ‘i’s :’)
i don’t! (although ‘dont’ does peeve me sometimes)
Productivity is completely unrelated to success imo. The only thing that matters is that you’re happy with yourself and your life, maybe productivity is not what brings you joy?
even though i might indulge in activities that are pleasurable for me now, they add up to nothing
Those activities are just as valid as a productive activity, especially if they make you happier. Being productive is great, but I feel productive activities should never take precedence over non-productive ones simply because they’re productive. Do what you have to do, but never sacrifice your own happiness at the altar of forward progress.
+1, displaying in a Emacs buffer solves any issues I could have. If you’re already ‘in’ Emacs, this will be more frictionless than shell scripts around man
+1, also recommend StreetComplete alongside it. Makes it easy to add data to OSM, in many cases (parks, etc) this data can be made extremely detailed.
For instance, my first use case was adding house numbers around my neighborhood to OSM, because I couldn’t search for my address on Organic Maps
My fault entirely. I guess my argument would be that those other corporations also shouldn’t be creating password managers, at least ‘within their ecosystem’.
I believe a password database should preferably be stored locally, and at least in a cloud that is completely separate from your essential account(s) (i.e Proton, Google, Microsoft accounts, etc.) I have no doubt Proton’s implementation is secure, but I think the principle of using it is not ideal.
Unless Proton OS is a consideration, I dont think a browser is a natural progression. There are plenty of private browser options already being developed (and I think the proton extensions cover most conveniences). The only way I’d see a Proton browser as a positive thing is if they went all in on ladybird or some other completely independent browser engine.
Matrix is definitely closer to Discord / a platform built for communities.
SimpleX is not P2P, as I understand it messages are forwarded through a random(?, at least varying) number of servers, so no server knows the sender and recipient. The main issue it attempts to solve is a complete lack of a persistent identifier. Your “account” does not have a single address you can be messaged on (you can create ephemeral ones). You can create a new identity for each person you message, meaning you don’t have to trust the people you’re messaging to keep your messaging account’s ‘identity’ secure.
I also really like how easy it is to route through proxies (esp on Android)
Genuinely probably because he got to be a billionaire in an insanely lucky deal, I feel like that’s the only way you can stay (relatively) down to Earth with that much cash.
