“he/she is crazy” in Estonia would be making circles toward your temple with your index finger. What’s the gesture in Portugal?

“Break a leg” is close, but more reserved for some grand performance
So in Estonian we have a bunch of those I don’t remember because nobody uses them anymore. But the main one everyone knows is “Kivi kotti” (literally, stone/rock in your bag, but much like with “break a leg”, you actually wish them well). It’s still basically “good luck” but not so much for grand performances, it could just be for your first day of work, or going fishing (the real origin I guess). There’s also “Nael kummi” which is “nail in your tire”, which is reserved for people driving somewhere.
I suppose they’re extremely common in comparison to other countries. I’ve never heard of them happening in mine since the 90s when we actually had violent crime.
We still have car theft, it’s just that they get stolen while parked.
Extremely common in absolute terms? Hell nah, there are a lot of unpleasant things more likely to happen to you in the US than carjackings.
I think the idea here is more that there’s one rider support agent per like 100 riders at any time vs one driver per rider
Most of what an American would call bread, we don’t consider bread. Bread is dark. They don’t really sell bread in American stores, not sure about western Europe.
Our mustard will make grown men cry and your nose runny. Can be helpful when it’s blocked actually.
… You’re American, aren’t ya
Qbittorrent, plex or jellyfin and if you’re into it, the arr suite for automation, all configured in a single docker compose file. It’s beautiful. But I don’t know if it’s as nice under Windows (if that’s what you’re using). For Linux it’s definitely super nice
Thinly veiled Rupert Murdoch?
Bah, 007 did it 27 years ago.
I really wanted Megalopolis to be good, but I never had high hopes for it. I’ll probably still watch it eventually because it has a bunch of actors in it that I love + I’m a sucker for future megacities in movies and games (I’m still not over the fact that they cancelled the Star Wars game that was supposed to take place on the lower levels of Coruscant)
That was just a bad ordering of words in that sentence. He failed to get re-elected and then a few years later he and his wife started building houses for the needy.
I’m a foreigner NOT living in the US, so my opinions may or may not be valid, idk:
Musk, asshole as he may be, is an example of something that’s always been going on in the US:
Immigrants come there looking for better lives, work hard, and many lead exceptional lives. The US has always benefitted from this, and it’s a key reason for its’ economic dominance over the last hundred-ish years.
However, he wants to close the door after him because other people improving their lives scares him. And people voting for slightly more humane conditions scares him too. Think about it, he’ll have fewer billions added to his net worth if he has to treat his employees like people.
He’s simultaneously a symbol of everything that’s amazing about the US and also of everything that is horrible about it.
Ah yes, pesky immigrants not voting for Musk’s favorite candidate
I was being facetious. Obviously it’s a huge problem.
I mean, ethnic cleansing is unlikely to even care about genetics.
Worst that could happen is that you get denied insurance coverage or pay a bigger premium than you should. Or get caught easier if you decide to succumb to a life of crime. Or in the future they might be able to figure out if you have predisposition towards addictive behaviors and market gambling and stuff to you.
So hopefully nothing too bad, but personally I’d still feel iffy about a private corporation owning the rights to my DNA.
Okay what the hell is wrong with it
It took me three times to convince it that there’s 3 r’s in strawberry…
You can also use a distro with more up to date packages. But not if you need Debian’s stability of course.
Oh I thought it was already implied that Ubuntu is shit lol
Absolutely. I hate Ubuntu now, but Karmic Koala was my gateway drug. I was scared of partitioning so wubi meant I could still try it out.
Then Unity happened and I no longer cared for Ubuntu.
Debian can be annoying if you want to install a newish version of something from the package manager. It’s why I can’t use APT to keep Rust up to date and have to use Rustup instead, for an example.
The temple is on the side of the head I thought :) So you have the same gesture as we do I’d think.
Basically it’s usually aimed at the part of your head where your chewing muscles are.
