Unfortunately the US cares little about cost. But what Iran has in its advantage is the throughout at which it can produce this stuff. The US may not be able to make THAADs and Patriots and ship them to the gulf and Israel fast enough to match Iran’s potential production throughput.

But given the US and Israel chose to start this fight, I imagine they are willing to take that risk and have something cooking in mind.

Thanks for your response! You are making an assumption that most or all immigrants wish they didn’t have to immigrate. I will answer assuming this is true, though I am not confident it is. But let’s go with it.

Changes in material conditions of a country typically occur due to political action. That may be in terms of voting, political movements, or outside forces like war or sanctions. Addressing each of those:

1. Immigrants typically can still vote, so no issue here
2. immigrants are unlikely to affect political movements when they are immigrating for reasons like work, study, reuniting with other family, or enjoying lifestyle of another country.
3. Immigrants have little to no effect on wars and sanctions.

And last, even if what you quoted is true, I bet whoever said it is likely not considering putting the effort of making their country better in the same way they want immigrants to. Maybe that’s not one of the worse forms of racism, but it is one.

1. In most cases, illegal immigrants do not benefit from government welfare programs, but they do work and contribute to the economy positively.
2. In cases where data has been collected, immigrant populations tend to put more into the economy than take through social programs, when compared with native populations. I can provide sources and data on this if you’d like.
3. Illegal immigrants may often not pay income tax, but they do pay most other forms of taxes that still end up paying more into the system than they get back. I can also provide evidence on this if you’d like.
4. If tax isn’t being collected from someone, when they’re willing to pay it, that is 100% the fault of anti-immigration policy, not an immigration issue.

When working with git, and I have a separate working copy, my options to sync are either rebase or create a merge commit.

Most people use github because it’s all they know and its name is almost synonymous with git hosting. Publishing elsewhere leads to people asking you why you’re not on github, how else can we contribute, etc. Moreover, github seems to score better on Google SEO than other platforms.

Not a libertarian if you were referring to me. I envision a system in which we all contribute and take part instead of throwing all the effort on someone already providing you with the space and expecting them to do it all, when you can more easily do it yourself.

Not saying admins should do nothing, but it should be sufficient for an admin to only do what’s absolutely necessary to keep the instance alive (including removal of illegal content). Anything else should be considered extra credit and no one should be entertained complaining about it.

I do like scheme. Nix is quite impressive. But my unpopular opinion is I am not convinced it’s philosophy is necessary. Nix feels like a workaround to legacy baggage in POSIX to allow for all its features of full reproducibility of packages and the overall system. Although Gentoo is not exactly reproducible, I feel like the level of control is sufficient to give me the benefits I want.

Nix works for maybe 95% of cases, but the 5% where its workarounds do not work sre annoying to deal with. Gentoo on the other hand doesn’t break so much from the traditional unix way of doing things, but still grants the user a great load of freedom and choice.

It works even if steam is installed through my system package manager rather than flatpak, which I find even more puzzling.

I suppose steam is installing something alongside it that bottles is using. Can’t figure out what it is.

I don’t think this should have to do with it, as I run the game outside of steam in bottles. I am running a GOG copy.

Imho, I prefer an editor that focuses on doing editing right, and provides the interface and APIs for integration with other things. I get the appeal of built-in LSP working OOTB, but I prefer this gets done by distributing the a good editor pre-packaged with LSP and other plugins, sort of like how you get lunarvim or nvchad as neovim with config and plugins ready. This way you get LSP out of the box, but others can customize if they need.

I get that it is inspired from it, but it felt like a strange in-between to me. It still has 3 modes, and the two non-insert modes seemed not to have a well-defined boundary. It didn’t just click with me. Kakoune seems to do it much better imho.

Why not monthly? It seems the smallest unit to encompass them all, and is fairly standard.
