I’ll do what I always do: sigh and add another brand to my “do not buy from” list on my pocket notebook, which was meant to be a single page and is now filling three
This comment thread is not only a perfect example of a joke, but it gets to the core of what humour truly is! Do you want help crafting a poster for you to present your jokes at a conference?
Don’t worry, Lemmy censors security information and passwords automatically, see: ******
to ubiquitous shit-shoveling malware appliances controlled by some of the worst elements of society.
Hmmm, I wonder which background economical system we all live in that could explain why every single technology ends up controlled by the top 1% to make our lives more miserable and their profits higher…
Kate is amazing, which is not surprising given it’s a KDE app
Let’s make Debian or Arch just work
Wonder why that’s extremely rare on ARM devices, especially those with modems, and rarely works beyond proof of concepts on some very specific devices? Its not like you’re the first to have this idea.
I’ll use my de-Googled and update-blocked S23 until it’s physically unable to boot up, and hopefully by then I’ll find something that can run this OS, assuming it’s ready
How many months away are we from Windows requiring a subscription to use, with a cheaper version for the OS + Office and a more expensive that also bundles AI?
I want wires everywhere I don’t care fuck wireless signals give me wired headphones, controllers, networks
Me and my homies hate antennas
Monkey’s paw curls. Wish granted: you will live for 10 to the power of 107 years, you’ll outlive every living and non living being, you’ll transcend mortal understanding, you’ll play with the flow of entropy - to see birth and death, hot and cold, to feel the final, guttering pulse of the last black hole as it surrenders its hoarded information to the void.
And you’ll have a little popcorn kernel stuck between your gum and a tooth during this entire time.
Halo is long dead. The brand name is the one thing left.
That really does not address my concerns, not one bit.
Let’s collectively fund an island where we can host Signal, Tor nodes and ThePirateBay in international waters.
While I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, it’s amazing how self-destructive this is. Greta is an internationally famous activist. Flagrantly violating and abusing a person with world renown - along with dozens of other activists - is a radically stupid way to hasten international isolation.
You’d be correct most of the time, but this is Israel we are talking about. They know there won’t be any consequences because claiming they did something wrong must mean you’re a nazi, and even if you get over that, daddy USA is there to protect them anyway.
Israel could livestream a soldier killing Greta and they would face no consequences whatsoever.
There are classical, “best of all time”, titles that an anime lover like you would defintely enjoy. They’re not available on Crunchyroll, they’re not on Amazon Prime, Netflix, you can’t purchase a copy. A few had selected censored releases in VHS, good luck hunting them down.
The thing with piracy is that it’s not just a money saving trick used by teenagers, it’s also the only way to truly watch the media you enjoy regardless of what some media conglomerate thinks - they no longer get to define how, when and what you’re going to watch. You have to do a bit of setup once… yes that sucks, but from that point onwards, you’re free.
No worries! I never found a true alternative to MusicBee, and there are several outdated tutorials about getting it run on Wine that technically work but leave you with a buggy app. The method I showed you works perfectly.
MusicBee works perfectly via Wine, and it’s a major part of my digital library. Without MusicBee my MP3 player would be worth 1/10 for me.
But you can’t just take the installer and double click it, you need to follow these steps (naturally replace the directories):
Install Wine Staging and Winetricks
Create prefix for MusicBee and .NET
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ wineboot –init
Install .NET 4.0 and corefonts
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ winetricks --force dotnet40 corefonts
Install xmllite and gdiplus
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ winetricks xmllite gdiplus
Set Wine to Windows 7 compatibility mode
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ winetricks win7
Install .NET 4.8
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ wine $HOME/Downloads/ndp48-x86-x64-allos-enu.exe /q
Install Music Bee
Bash:
WINEPREFIX=/home/kadupse/Wine/MusicBee/ wine $HOME/Downloads/MusicBeeSetup_3_6.exe
Downloads needed:
This specific version of the .NET Framework installer
You might see warnings about WoW64 mode, experimental flags, etc, just ignore them and keep going and MusicBee will work.
I’ll just sigh and move on, not worth getting stressed out over a dumb reply online
It’s quite easy, really. AI makes dumb people feel smart. That’s essentially it, they lived life looking at people who had specific knowledge, or could write well, or be creative, and they never could. Now they press a button and feel like they have talent.
Guess the type of people most often found in management positions…
