DeBebians is hands down the best jeweler for both custom work and stock pieces. They have really good pricing. I was connected with them by a friend who has used them for years and have been blown away by my experience with them, the quality of my piece, and the work they’ve done for others that I’ve seen. The way they brought my very specific vision to life is incredible.

You can go to their website and find great stuff, but I’ve honestly had such amazing luck with them just filling out their quote form on their site. You tell them what you want, your budget, etc and they get right back to you. They were started by two best friends I believe over twenty years ago. The guy is the design pro and the woman completely owns stone sourcing (mined or lab, you can get anything from them for stones).

They’re such a “best kept secret” of the gemstone and jewelry internet. Everyone who works with them adores them, they’re just good people. Impeccable quality. Reddit feels like addiction to me, while the fediverse feels exciting and like I’m having real conversations with people.

I have popped on to Reddit a couple of times to help with a couple of subs I’m a part of but god it’s just trash over there to me now…I really don’t want to be there. I deeply resent what they’ve done to it over time.

Oh my god that episode. And then they create the program for the villain to live in indefinitely and all of that, I kind of loved how that storyline played out.

Honestly I think a lot of people were just feeling afraid of losing contact with people who belong to their communities on Reddit. I know I was guilty of the same…all misty-eyed, imagining people I’ve come to really like being around and sharing with over the years just scattered in the wind ahhh

But I’m feeling better now. I’ve accepted that I have to delete my Reddit accounts. I’m pretty much over it. I feel committed to helping build up new communities in places like this, etc.

But yeah discord has been good for some things over the years….but seeing what is going on there I fully expect it to go the way of everything else—to shit.

I’m so impressed with how devs and community members across federated content spaces are handling the technological and communications challenges that are arising as many of us are flocking and trying to talk with each other and grow new communities.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to delete my three year and ten year accounts and just walk away for good. Honestly I was a little sad all day today, because I have a few hobbies I’m really crazy about and the cooking, baking, gemstone, and gardening communities have felt like home for a long time…but just using lemmy for a tiny little bit, I’m actually really excited! I’m having a much simpler experience here that’s refreshing. I like the content I’m reading.
