I do not use one. I do all my rolls out in the open, and mostly use over sized dice so my group can see them.
As far as rules, the group keeps me on my toes for them. So I just keep my notes in front of me.

I use an iPad Pro 10" mostly for my ttrpg PDF reading. I also have an Apple Pencil and I use an app to take notes, write the campaign, manage my character sheet. The pro is overkill for this, and if I was getting an iPad for I would go with a normal iPad, which has an 11" screen on the current model starting at $349 USD for the current model.
If I did not already have an iPad, I would get one of those color eink readers talked about elsewhere in the thread.
I run multiple games without, but the one game I am in the dm (this is his first time dm’img) uses a screen religiously. Although he tends to forget there is info on the screen for him. I think he only uses it as a barrier between us and him.
