Kind of off-topic, but second your dislike of iOS. I got an iPad at some point but after about an hour decided I was returning it: That device was so “locked-down”, I couldn’t stand it.
I really love my iMac tho (haven’t booted into Windows in months). 🤷♂️
The dev must read this thread. I just got a Kiwi update via FFUpdater app. 😎
I find Kiwi Browser essential. It’s one of the only ones that you can install chrome extensions onto.

Was seeing this a lot this morning. One post was there 11 times.
Un- and re- installed the app. Multiple accounts/instances now working! 👍 😎
It’s up to date, but I can’t add my other instances. That’s a deal breaker for now.

Wow. So many new choices. “Fennec” is already taken tho isn’t it?
Interesting. Liftoff has been the most problematic for me. I saw a meme yesterday about how slow it was. I’ll have to try it again.
I’ve been using one for years. I stick with the counter top models. A hygienist told me they’re great for your gums. I need to remember to run vinegar thru it once a month to help control mineral deposits…
Makes my nose itch something fierce tho when I use it! 😂
Dammit, you’re right…
Sometimes I hate being this cynical–but I’m afraid I agree 100%.
I heard that as well. Would explain the timing at least.
You can check on Reddit surreptitiously by going to https://libreddit/r/[subreddit]. If I understand correctly, reddit gets no “credit” for your visit that way.
The sub that I mod has gotten a LOT quieter since I stopped posting there (around the time of the blackout). Historically I was doing the bulk of the posting there, I guess.
There are 11K subscribers over there; my new “official” community has 16 at latest count–despite my notice and links to it.
When things settle down in the Fediverse, I’ll make an announcement that I will be posting stuff exclusively on lemmy. We’ll see what happens. 🤷♂️
Ah, I had forgotten that. But it’s not called “Lemmy.app”, so I think the minimally motivated will be confused?
I laughed at your “…she doesn’t want to install another app…”. I have a close friend that told me the same thing.
I was able to convince my sister to install Signal so that we could more securely send financial receipts back and forth, etc.
More than one of you in this thread have mentioned Matrix. I realized I signed up for it during the Great Migration about 3 weeks ago, but I haven’t spent any time there yet. How is it the same/different/better than whatever else? Curious. (I suppose Google might be my friend in this situation.)
Is she looking for an “official” app–not realizing there isn’t such a thing? That they all have different names and are so new that they all have different levels of functionality?
And that Lemmy.world is so slammed with new users that most of the apps don’t seem to be working properly? ☺️
(That was hysterical…)
