Fruit of the Loom is cheap. They have all the advanced underwear technology too. These are what I’m wearing now. They’re that spandex crap or whatever that are tight against your leg so they don’t clump up, they don’t absorb a lot of moisture, and have thinly woven spots to increase ventilation. What else do you need in an underwear? Every other brand’s version of that is like $20+ more expensive for no reason.

I spent 95% of my time shitposting on one forum in the early 2000’s. It was a similar experience to spending 95% of my time on reddit or one of the other major social media sites, except that crazy new ideas for social media didn’t really exist back then. They were all traditional forums where everything is posted in chronological order. I remember occasionally sumbling across a threaded forum back then, where you could reply directly to a comment and start a new thread chain like lemmy and reddit can. That was about it as far as innovation went, or at least from what I remember.

The other 5% where I was browsing those old web 1.0 sites with basic html and flash and all that stuff, I don’t miss that stuff too much. It would be nice to browse through an archive of stuff like that once or twice for nostalgia’s sake, but the modern internet is good too. I have no qualms with the modern internet.

You guys… the lemmynsfw community had the term “child-like” in its sidebar. Why is everybody conveniently forgetting that? Don’t even try saying that’s not a disgusting request to have in a sidebar too.

Well, this is off topic, but c/all for all the popular instances are like 99% the same, save for the occasional obscure community in one of the instances that nobody else is subscribed to. You can confirm that yourself by opening up lemmy.world and sopuli.xyz in private tabs and selecting all with the same sort in both. But I should’ve also mentioned that I sort by the “top” sorts when I browse all. If you browse with hot or active, then it is a significantly different experience from the top sorts.

But alright, I won’t pester you anymore. I apologize if I sounded angry too. I’ve been having issues with that recently that I’m trying to be more conscious of. I shouldn’t have even made my original comment in here, now that I’m thinking of it. That was kind of poor forum etiquette. It’s easy enough to just ignore the migration notices. So sorry about that haha. I wish you the best of luck with your communities, though.

I’m not subscribed to any communities. I’m seeing all these notices on c/all. This is like the 5th c/ps5 migration notice I’ve seen in the past two days. That’s why I suggested to just start posting new threads in !ps5@lemmy.world and be done with it. Lemmy is still really small, so basically every thread has the potential to succeed in c/all, even for new communities that are still starting out. So !ps5@lemmy.world will grow very easily without having to have this big hoopla about migrations and whatnot.

But I’m afraid to say I don’t think your idea is going to fly long term. While lemmy.ml advertises itself as a FOSS focused instance, if you browse local top day for it, you can see that in actuality it’s a lot of memes and other more casual posts. And you’re squatting on the ps5 name for lemmy.ml now, which could cause issues down the road.

You should either keep both communities active and be the mod of both, or seek out mods to replace you at !ps5@lemmy.ml.

Just start posting in !ps5@lemmy.world and be done with this whole migration thing. Posts in your new community will make it to c/all and people will participate and subscribe. !ps5@lemmy.ml is going to continue to exist with new mods and people will continue to post there, and there’s really nothing you can do about that. That’s just the nature of decentralized communities. Kind of like how c/asklemmy posts are split 50/50 between !asklemmy@lemmy.world and !asklemmy@lemmy.ml.

I’m still working my way up to listening to symphonies. I’ve mainly been listening to sonatas, concertos, and things like quartets and stuff. But of the few symphonies I’ve listened to so far, that’s one thing I noticed. They reminded me a lot of all the movie soundtracks I’ve heard throughout my life.

It sounds stupid since soundtracks are commonly played by a full orchestra, so what else what they sound like. But I just never made that connection before that they’re basically modern day classical music haha.

That’s a good idea though, thanks! I’ll mix in some soundtracks to my classical music exploration.

My lifestyle is unhealthy and would most definitely benefit from therapy. But that disclaimer aside, I have a few things I find happiness from. Listening to music is a big one. Over the past year or two I’ve transitioned to listening to mostly classical music, so I have a whole new world to explore in that genre. I’m currently listening to a lot of Shostakovich. Another big source of happiness is continuing to learn about programming. That’s kind of like a ritual that I’ve maintained since my school days. And one of my guilty pleasures recently is those stupid reaction YouTube channels. Not the obnoxious ones where they’re all like “WoaaaAAaa!!1” or whatever. But just regular people watching comedic and music things.

Cool, thanks for the update! Coincidentally, Liftoff put gestures with no option to turn them off in their latest release, so I’ve been a little unsatisfied about that. I’ll try Thunder again.

The play store release is a huge deal too. Ngl that I probably wouldn’t have used Thunder if I had to manually update it from github for each new release.

Is this hoarding? You should try to break this cycle. There’s no way every single one of those hundreds of tabs is important to you. Take an hour or two to go through the tabs and manually create the bookmarks on desktop for only the ones that are most important to you. Let all the other ones go.

Svengoolie tonight while trying to learn about using Docker for my local development environment.

There was a bug with the hot sort a couple weeks ago, so that kind of poisoned the well a little bit. I’m never sure if the poor sorting is due to another bug or if it’s just the nature of how hot and active sort works. Assuming the sorts are working as intended, I’m beginning to believe that lemmy is just too small for hot and active to work well. Maybe they’ll be more applicable if lemmy grows to the size of reddit.

But anyway, I’ve just been sticking to the “top” sorts, for now. Those work well.

If you’re good with learning via books, then I would recommend Python Crash Course. It assumes you know nothing about programming and has a good reputation as a teaching resource.

I 100% believe that Zuck is going to stab lemmy in the back if/when it starts taking away too much profit from Meta. But I stopped caring so much because I’ve also realized that a lot of people here are too stubborn and have to learn the hard way.

Sorry, I have to admit that I’m not the best at keeping up with LGBTQ+ news, so I wasn’t aware of that controversy. I’ll keep an eye on that and see how it shakes out. If NYT continues to stir controversy, then I can switch. I’m not particularly attached to them. Washington Post would be a good replacement, and I saw that GLAAD article mention that WP’s LGBTQ+ coverage is better.

I don’t get my news from any social media platform, including lemmy, no offense to lemmy. I used to do that with reddit, but it’s just too unhinged getting your news that way.

I stick with Associated Press, Reuters, and The New York Times, in that order. I also use Google News specifically for local news, but I don’t even peek at the main world news feed there.

More generally speaking, I stick to the old school human editorial board for my news. News that’s presented to me on AP, for example, has already been filtered by a board of humans who are smarter than me and whose opinions I trust on the state of the world. Opening up your selection of news to an easily gameable social media algorithm is just more trouble than it’s worth, in my opinion.
