There was once intended to be a second, older Moonrise Tower in Baldur's Gate 3 that you'd also explore, but "the game was getting too big, and so we had to cut that out."
That was my experience on the first play through. My second and third though by the time you get to the city the game pretty much falls apart. Doesn’t help that it plays like ass during the entirety of act 3 too.
Act 2 and 3 should have been swapped. Would have flowed much better.
A slog? Man, my experience was completely different. I was intentionally looking for more to do before I confronted the brain.
Some of the best “dungeons” are in act 3. House of Hope is my favorite sub-area in the entire game.
