Many cultures have decades of pop-culture anti-nazi media. What are some of your favorite video games, movies, music, tv shows, books, and other media that are anti-nazi?

That was one thing I always did too! Been thinking about replaying that one. The violence in that game was a bit hard for me to deal with in a lot of cases, but I never had any personal conflicts deciding how to deal with klansmen.

      • I don’t like Micah or Strauss, personally. Most of the other fights you have in the game are against racists, rapists or criminal underlords. But those two have missions where you’re killing or beating up regular townspeople because Micah is a psychopath and Strauss is a heartless loan shark. I’ve yet to finish the story mode, but I’ve been wanting to put a bullet in Micah since I had to break him out of jail in Strawberry. Already kicked Strauss out of camp and that felt really good.

I seriously sat there in Strawberry thinking “I can’t believe I’m breaking this guy out. I’d rather just let him die.” I think I restarted that mission several times looking for an alternate story.

Also, that racist in Blackwater. Tying him up, dragging him behind you on your horse to the police station, and just killing him there. Over and over again.

I can’t say enough good things about the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare:

      https://youtu.be/zvwDen1Wrx8

      Mind blowing aspects:

      1. It’s a true story.

      2. Ian Fleming was there for it and used it as the inspiration for James Bond.

      3. In the two real missions dramatized for the film, nobody got killed, but where’s the fun in that?

The opening scene is probably the best part of cinema I have ever seen. Hans Landa is exceptionally well played

Most media portrays Nazi’s as evil fascists with a deep, seething hatred towards Jews and other persecuted minorities. However, Hans Landa is so unsettling because he doesn’t hate the Jews. We aren’t watching someone driven by emotion or even personal ambition. No, this man does his job for the simple reason that he’s good at it. He’s precise; clinical. He orders the deaths of the people in hiding as casually and as detached as someone tidying up their desk space.

And that’s what makes it all the more terrifying. It’s seeing man incredibly skilled at his craft, who takes pleasure in the simple act of a job well done; it just happens that the job is hunting human beings. Not only is he not blinded by hatred, but he uses that lack of hatred as a tool to become even more efficient at exterminating them.

That kind of cold detachment sends hardwired signals of danger to the audience. By the end of that scene, you know you are watching a true monster. One that would just as easily shake a man’s hand as he would slit their throat, and never lose a minute of sleep over it.

    Downfall.

Anti-Nazi is not supposed to be funny, not in today’s politics. Seeing Nazism for what it is and how Nazis saw themselves is best IMO.

The Babylon 5 subplot about president Clarke and his regime comes to mind. The scene with the woman of the Ministry of Truth visits Babylon 5 and claims to have sollved problems by rewriting the dictionary does rhyme with certain events in my country.

I’m an Australian, but I have watched ‘don’t be a sucker’ so many times.

Such solid GOOD propaganda. Easy to find for those who have not seen it

Not explicitly Nazi, but good enough. There was an episode of Sliders where there’s a world where those with immigrant blood or who don’t fit a certain type of white if I remember correctly get taken away to prison camps essentially. The twist is that they are essentially turned into slaves through some surgery. Also, apparently there was no Hitler on that parallel Earth. A single person (can’t remember if he was alone or with a group/party) was responsible for it all to be allowed.

The idea of those deemed impure/undesirable in society being medically turned into slaves probably sounded like nothing but sci-fi back then but now under the current US president, it doesn’t sound too far fetched (aside from what they were turned into of course).
