Ah yes. Elon’s salute. The famous salute. Sounds OK to me if it’s just a salute. Is there some simple way to describe this salute, to give the reader an idea if it’s a good or a bad salute? I wonder if there would be a precise description for this salute, my dear journos?

Ah yes it’s a nazi salute, of course. Easy to forget this adjective, since it’s completely harmless and very mundane.

It is very funny that there are so many examples of people basically saying, “It wasn’t a Nazi salute, watch I’ll show you,” and then immediately ruining their lives by doing it.

The “Anglican Catholic Church” is actually not affiliated with either the holy see (the “actual” Roman Catholic Church) or the Anglican Church (as headed by the Archbishop Canterbury and the King of England).

He joined it because he didn’t make the cut to become an actual Anglican Priest because of

concerns about Robinson’s “libertarian anti-woke, anti-identity politics, Covid-sceptical” political views and his use of social media, particularly Twitter, to disseminate them."

Can’t speak for the actual Anglican church because I’ve never been to the UK. But the episcopalian church, which is the american spinoff of the Anglican church, is the most accepting church I’m aware of. They regularly put up signs with a rainbow flag that say “All Are Welcome”

Like all Church schisms it’s “we’re the only ones who are right about how our god is supposed to be worshiped”, so they don’t feel bad about taking the names of Anglicans or Catholics because they think that those other groups are doing religion wrong, so who cares if it’s confusing.

Anglican really just means a version of the Catholic church splintered off by Anglo-Saxons, and Catholic means for everyone, so all their church name really means is a Anglican tradition, or style church for everyone. Thera millions of sects out there that use very similar titles and terminology, it’s not always misleading even if it’s confusing or obscure language.

Anglican really just means a version of the Catholic church splintered off by Anglo-Saxons

The proto-Anglicans stopped being Catholics when King Henry the 8th couldn’t get the pope to annul his marriage, so he split the English church from the Catholic church. So, for 500 years, the Anglicans haven’t been Catholics. And it has nothing to do with “Anglo-Saxons”. Anglo-Saxons are a cultural group from the middle ages. The Church of England and Anglicanism comes from centuries later and applies to the country of England under the king Henry the 8th. The Church of England and/or Anglicanism doesn’t date from the middle ages, it was effectively a political construction due to the king wanting a divorce and not to have to answer to the pope. But, the reasons behind the split don’t really matter as much as the fact that the people following churches related to that split haven’t recognized the authority of the pope for centuries, so they’re not Catholics.

In this case, the name is really misleading because the Anglicans don’t consider them to be Anglican, the Catholics definitely don’t consider them to be Catholics, and you can’t really merge the Anglican and Catholic faiths because they’re so different.

From what I read it’s a copy of what Mussolini thought was a Roman Salute, which was just something he got from a painting which was not at all Historically accurate, so it wasn’t actually a salute that the Ancient Romans did.

(I suspect that in Mussolini’s time some people born and living in the city of Rome did that salute, so strictly speaking it could be called a Roman Salute 😜)

However many call it a Roman Salute because that’s what the Fascists thought it was, hence one could say that the Nazi Salute is also called a Roman Salute.

He literally wasn’t ordained by the Anglican Church because of his “anti woke” views. He joined a knock off church which wasn’t desperately to be part of the catholic church (but, and I can’t stress this enough, isn’t at all). He’s cosplaying being a vicar for clout while being a fucking worse bigot than two of the largest organised denominations.

Interesting. I only heard about him yesterday so I was going off reports I came across, all of which seem to treat him as having been an Anglican priest and one of which added he almost wasn’t ordained, but later was. Are you from the area? I know it’s certainly easy for one media outlet to make an error that is then echoed by almost every other one.

I’m British - he regularly appeared on a wannabe Fox network “GB News” alongside a similarly “anti woke activist” Lawrence Fox (who is his own flavour of unseemly), was (is?) a spokesman for UKIP - the party which drove us to Brexit. I’ve taken an interest in him when I saw his dog collar and questioned his church membership, so I occasionally check in on him to piss myself off and generally increase my blood pressure.

I also used to be a practicing Christian so I’m very into denominational splitting and infighting - he studied theology, didn’t get a job with the Church of English and was then ordained into the “Free Church of England”, where he became a bishop. He’s bounced around a few other denominations since; the Nordic Catholic Church, a Lutheran denomination, and now the Anglican Catholic Church.

Him being blocked from entering the Anglican Church of England (the real actual one which is linked to the royals) was reported in fairly mainstream news here. It seems like the church was actually pretty tight lipped on their reasoning for him not taking a position with them, and he’s basically outed himself as too bigoted for the church by handing over to the press internal communication regarding him he secured through an effective FOI request.

          He’s an interesting chap.

If the live engineer is crappy and causes feedback or echo (like on the brink of feedback) that goes straight to records. There is no way to fix it in post (well, no decent way, and takes ages to dial in something mostly acceptable ).
If it’s a “feel of being live” that’s required in post, most lavs are omni so will pick up a bunch of atmo noise. It will likely feel live by virtue of being live. I imagine they have some mics on the camera as well for atmo.

Maybe the records aren’t set up for a feed from the sound desk. Maybe the sound desk isn’t able to provide a clean feed.
The lav mic is probably wireless, with the receiver direct into a camera. They don’t have any gain-before-feedback physics to contend with, so they can gain it however they want.
And if they are doing any spots not in front of the mic on stage (or a mic through the sound desk), they will need a mic anyway. If they always use the same mic, then the sound will be consistent.

Better to have an independent feed.

Australia’s Anglican church is the Anglican Church of Australia, which has 3.1 million members. The Anglican Catholic church is a very confused and tiny church with only 35k members.

The Anglican Catholics split from the American Episcopal church, which itself split from the Anglicans when the US split from England. After all, having the king as the head of your church doesn’t make much sense if you just had a revolution to declare independence from that king.

So, it’s pretty weird, the Anglican Catholics want to be connected to the Anglican church, after their church split from the Anglicans in the American Revolution, and to the Catholics who split from the Protestants in the 1500s. It’s almost as confused as something like Jews for Jesus.

      Anglican Catholic Church

The church part of the name isn’t what really gets me. How can a schisim(from the episcopalians) of an offshoot(from the church of England) of a schisim(from the Catholic Church) proclaim itself katholikos (universal).
