I honestly do think they could have pushed through a lot worse than Burgum and Rubio. Hegesth didn’t get a single D vote and also lost 3 R votes but still got approved because they only needed 50 R and 1 VP to tiebrake it.

We cannot stop fascism, the people already voted for it, the most we can do is damage control, and sometimes that means approving selfish assholes who at least aren’t as poisonous as another Russian Plant and/or Fox News Host.

AOC and others who are prepared to fight this bullshit need to spin off their own political party. I figure it would only take the departures of a handful of high-profile progressives to make the whole house of cards fall. The country is being pillaged, and the Dems’ response has been completely fucking impotent. Time to build a new party that isn’t run by geriatric milquetoasts.

        This is how they lose.

If you had a party actually for the people, you would get a lot of the Trump votes as well. Most of MAGA weren’t about racist bullshit or half of what’s happened since the changeover.

They are tired of the corporate and government corruption and Trump promised (lied) to do something about that. We need to offer the same hope without all the hate. We need to offer change without just saying the other side is evil. It isn’t the ‘other side’ that is the problem. It’s the corrupt people in positions of power and the ones that tell you to blame the ‘other side’.

Exactly. Getting rid of all the shitty Democrats is a tall order, but the Tea Partiers didn’t do that, they just took as many of them down as possible and scared the rest into obedience.

Tea party has a lot of money and nothing else to do but play intrigues for decades.

You cannot adapt this strategy for the masses of people who still need to feed their families.

I don’t see how “having to feed their family” plays into this at all. Tea Partiers didn’t apply mass numbers at their stunts, just kept showing up. Angry Democrats are not so pressed for time that we can’t muster a few hundred to protest and make a spectacle any time a Democratic politician goes back on a promise.

I also do not find the “money rules everything” fatalism particularly useful. The Democrats keep losing races despite raising more money, and people like AOC still beat entrenched donor-focused politicians.

I am not saying not to do something, i am saying to use the right strategies for what you have.

The Dems dont give a fuck about demonstrations at their places. Neither do the Reps. They give a fuck only about money, or being pressured into doing something.

So you will have to show up with many people and block their events. You will need to organize general strikes. You will need to be armed and fight back if you are attacked.

These things you can do with many people. Pulling strings in intrigue games is not something you can do without money and networks. That is why politics have been built to cater to the people who can, rather than the people who rally on the streets.

We need to stop pretending their failures began in the campaign. It’s not just that they failed in a monumental election, it’s that they’ve failed to secure courts, failed to build a counter part to the heritage foundation, failed to jail the politicians that attempted a coup when they had power. They are simply not equip to fight the rise of fascism, the same as the liberals of Germany.

She’s saying the thing the Radical Tankie Left has been saying since the Clinton Era. It’s good to hear someone in her position repeating the message one more time. But the fact that it has to come from a fringe member of a fringe caucus, rather than - say - Hakeem Jefferies or Dick Durban, is depressing.

We’re so far away from a McConnell style “We’re going to make Obama a one-term President” moment. Liberals simply cannot understand politics as conflict. Its always just make’n deals for your district’s rich friends and stuffing your own pockets along the way.

i have a question - where is Kamala Harris in all this ? She lost the prez race and decided to just give up on her dreams of creating a better USA? This is the perfect moment for her to step up, invite people for resistance, lead that resistance and be the leader she claimed to be.

She was a failed candidate in 2020, picked based largely on identity for VP by a presidential nominee that was really only liked as a remnant from a administration for which he was also picked largely based on identity. Towed the party line during increasing displeasure with the party heads, then failed spectacularly in an election.

Even if I believed she truly had dreams of creating a better USA, it’s best for her to not be prominent member.

I mean we’re talking just on paper at this point when the Democrats are enabling these neo-Nazi assholes and not putting up meaningful opposition.

I’ve defended people for both siding shit but damn at this point when you’ve got Democrats passing Laken Riley Act, which allows immigrants to be deported for being accused of fucking shoplifting and Democrats not only voting for Trump’s neo-nazi, dog killing, environment killing nominees and then going on air and waximg poetic about the votes for them. What fucking shitty opposition party is this? It’s not.

Respectfully i disagree with where you went with this.

The devil is in the details as the saying goes and nuance and minute differences as well as intentions and purposes all matter.

Enabling is not worse than driving an outcome. It may be that the enablers are worse in some instances, but driving the worst outcomes is always worse than taking advantage of it when it’s happening.

It’s always worth it to get to the bottom of events and understand as much as is possible instead of just labeling things as “close enough so it doesn’t matter” that’s just going to l lead to enabling in w different way.

“They are both the same so i voted for the ones i find funniest, because they both the same”

At this point US needs leaders who can mobilize people and spearhead protest marches in the street. AOC is perfectly positioned to call for such protest march. If she does that and become figurehead of the Dem Allies against MuskTrump axis, she might get elevated to same status as MLK and may be even Lincoln. And on that note, why Kamala is quiet ?

And on that note, why Kamala is quiet ?

Kamala Harris is the new Hillary Clinton. The GOP boogeyman and now political poison after she embarrassingly lost to Donald Trump.

Kamala Harris was deeply unpopular both before and during the Biden administration, and (sorry to say it, but it’s true) she was largely picked because there was pressure for Biden to pick a minority female to “balance out” the fact that he was a white man. You know how some people, particularly (but not entirely) on the right, believe that affirmative action means that minorities end up getting positions that they otherwise probably wouldn’t have gotten because someone needs to fill a “diversity quota” or whatever? That’s how a lot of people felt about Harris – picked not because of her qualifications, but because she was a black woman.

She’s basically been the poster child for this as far as the GOP is concerned ever since. And not in a good way. Right now, with anti-DEI sentiment gaining traction in this country at a record pace and DEI initiatives becoming political battery acid, the last thing you want as the face of the movement is someone believed to be the poster child for DEI initiatives run amok.

I do not think AOC has remote same appeal or adeptness of rhetoric to ever do something like this. Would recommend listening to MLKs speeches if haven’t already. Someone like that will come eventually, but they can’t be forced into that position. Also, the situation has to call for it. If it were possible to wake up and choose to be MLK we’d have a million.
