The new Israeli-backed food distribution site in Gaza has become the scene of a series of massacres after UNRWA commissioner general Philippe Lazzarini warned that aid distribution in the region has become a “death trap.”
UNICEF spokesperson James Elder recently arrived in Gaza for his fifth visit to the region since Oct. 7, and he joins Mehdi to discuss what’s happening on the ground following an 80-day blockade on food that saw the number of children suffering from severe malnutrition double.
He pushed back against Israeli claims that Hamas has been diverting aid away from the United Nations.
"When it comes to Hamas aid diversion, show us the proof. It doesn’t exist,” Elder tells Mehdi.
Elder also says that the “level of indiscriminate attacks [by Israel] has led us to … levels we have never, ever seen before… There’s nothing I’ve seen here [Gaza] that is close to other conflict zones.”
Pressure mounts on Netanyahu as opposition moves to dissolve parliament
A member of Israel’s right-wing coalition threatened to quit the cabinet on Wednesday and support an opposition motion to dissolve parliament tabled for next week, piling pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Latest opinion polls suggest that Netanyahu’s coalition would lose power if an election was held today, with many voters unhappy over the continued war in Gaza prompted by the attack by Hamas militants on southern Israel in October 2023.
The opposition party Yesh Atid, led by former prime minister Yair Lapid, put forward a parliamentary vote for next week to topple the government, even as the Israeli army continues battling Hamas in the Gaza Strip. It would require the support of 61 out of the 120 members of the parliament to succeed.
After Putin call, Trump suggests Ukraine, Russia should ‘fight for a while’
Trump on Wednesday also thanked Putin for assistance in the thorny negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, offering comments that in Russia were interpreted as supportive of the Kremlin more generally.
“What happened was an obvious trade-off, Ukraine for Iran,” said Abbas Galyamov, a political consultant and former Putin speechwriter. “It looks like Putin phoned in with this proposal, essentially saying — don’t prevent me from dealing with Ukraine, and I will help you deal with Iran.”
Except that doesn’t make a lot of sense bc Russia has already been receiving help from China, Iran, and North Korea against Ukraine, and it looks like Iran has no plans of slowing down building their weapons anytime soon bc they’re working directly with China to do it:

Trump is saying he is afraid Netenyahu will preemptively strike Iran if he doesn’t keep him happy
I think you’re confused about which clowns I’m talking about. I’m talking people who mock opposition to Biden by implying that if everyone had simply accepted their favorite genocidal maniac it’d be all sunshine and rainbows in Palestine.
Wow, that is a really good way to put it.
They do show up on these posts, as I said to mock opposition to Biden. Remember when every post about Israeli atrocities got a comment saying (sarcastically) “But genocide Joe” or “We did it Patrick, we saved Palestine”?
TL;DR: I agree with you.
