Title says it. Roll for combat/battlezoo’s distributor ‘Diamond’ has filed for bankruptcy and is keeping their (and other company’s) stock to sell in a liquidation sale to keep the proceeds and pay off their debt.
Mentioned in the video, diamond is a distributor for other TTRPG companies as well, such as paizo, goodman games, and others.
I don’t think they’re the sole distributor for all of them, so i think the amount of damage it’s doing is highly specific to each company, but it’s still pretty shitty for companies in this industry in particular because of how hard it is to turn profits already in a niche industry.
What the fuck
How is this possible???
A small list of the 124 affected companies/studios:
Fuck Diamond Comic Distributors and jesus christ US you gotta fix your shit this is ridiculous. Your poor bankruptcy laws are actually causing a cascading negative economic effect that will have an impact on your economy.
This infuriates me in two ways.
Several hundreds of thousands of innocent people will likely be negatively impacted for the benefit of a corrupt few.
Fuck zero-sum systems man. This is honestly why we’re still in a pointlessly tragic dystopian society.

Because despite the fact that they were operating as if they were selling the books on consignment, they were apparently doing business on credit on paper. It’s dirty dealing. Which I’m sure didn’t stop them from sending unsold books back to the publisher any time it was convenient for them, or failing to pay them in a manner that reflects credit-based purchases.
They set up a system where it was heads they win, tails you lose.
