Ive always wanted to make videos for something such as youtube but ive also been told to always start small. Most of my ideas require a team of sorts which i do not have. Im wondering what types of videos are considered easy to make and learn from that are not slop?
- Don’t start with easy or hard. Start with what you want to talk about. “Making YT video” doesn’t mean shit if you have nothing to say. Start with a topic. There is not a single subject that " requires a whole team". Every subject can be talked about with a smartphone and a decent mic… and a good problem solving mindset - I assumed they meant some kind of group skit thing.
- This is really only if you make commentary style of videos. Which is a huge part of what YouTube is now but still not the only thing on there. There’s skits, there’s not a lot of it, but still people’s films, there’s just something interesting that happened and you had the presence of mind to film it, there’s animation, I think there’s a degree of citizen journalism on there too though I’ve ot really seen a lot of that. That would be maybe commentary adjacent but still slightly different than just a person and a topic. - That said you could do all of those solo, with varying degrees of difficulty.
- Exactly. I’d much, much rather watch a dinosaur video from someone who really really wants to talk about dinosaurs, and found video as a medium to talk about it, rather than someone who wants to do video and is trying to come up with a topic for the videos he already wants to make. - Same with cooking, comedy, tech, business, current events, politics, etc. I’d rather watch/listen to someone who cares about those things specifically than someone who wants to “create content.”

- Somewhat seriously…porn. - But completely seriously, the easiest videos to make are a matter of pointing a camera at yourself and talking.
- Are you wanting to do skits, commentary, walk through, teaching videos, or something else? - The easiest to literally make something is just talk about things you like while recording it and posting that. Maybe go a bit further and edit it to remove pauses or long silence. That will also be practice for literally everything you do that involves video. - It might not get any attention, but practice is practice and not really slop.
- Let’s plays of your favourite games. - All it takes is time and a charming personality.
- Porn. - To clarify, I’m not suggesting you do it, you asked for the easiest. - Well, you should sometimes record your home sex video. When watching how awkward it looks, you might find new appreciation for how much work goes into a simple porn video.
- That’s not easy. - Yeah ppl really understate what it takes to do porn

- I’m going to define easy as “low budget”. In which case I think any presentation style video is going to fit that description. I personally enjoy a lot of Milo Stefan and minimiuteman’s videos where they present archaeology topics. It really cheap in that you only need to a few pictures from wiki and camera pointed at your self talking about something. Of course to do this well, you need to really know the subject and how to present a narrative that is interesting.
- Reaction videos I guess, but a lot of people are doing that.
- Whatever it is you can talk engagingly about, unscripted. Following that, whatever you can talk engagingly about, scripted. - Doesn’t matter if you’re actually doing the voiceover; just having the ability means less time setting up shots and editing.
- Eat stuff. - Things you can do in one take without much editing.
- deleted by creator
- Eating food. - Punching people just before they eat food.
