Microsoft said that employees who spend three or four days in the office have higher Thriving Scores — a metric that measures employee well-being.

Personally, when my company started forcing everyone back to office three days per week, I quit. I hated it so much. Because it affects my entire life.

I dont want my coworkers and bosses to be part of my life. I didnt pick them, I dont like some of them, and there is a huge feeling of hierarchy all the time. It sucks.

Can I just say that, the economy tanking and human death and suffering aside, COVID was a goddamned dream come true for me! I secretly kinda wish we could go back. I selfishly really miss those days.

Ironically, I worked fewer hours, and my productivity skyrocketed.

My occasional days back in the office today absolutely annihilate my productivity. It’s absolutely insane the negative impact it has on actually getting anything of value done.

For me, I have given up. Since I cant think in office, I just produce shit code because im tired of trying to think in that environment. I just stopped trying.

At home, in my home lab, I put a lot of effort in to make it just work, with lots of thoughts about simplicity, unity, security and so on. But when I work on my home lab, I do it from a mental state of fun and no pressure or interruptions. Its a different world.
