I can list off all of the reasons why the majority of states, including dumb as red states, have no excuse mail in voting.
Proven increase in voter participation
Reduction in fraud due to multiple layers of checks and additional time for reviews
Reduces the cost of having polling stations and workers
Produces a more informed voting base.
Also, my favorite little tidbit about mail in voting:
The conservative Heritage Foundation, which has warned of the risks of mail voting, found 14 cases of attempted mail fraud out of roughly 15.5 million ballots cast in Oregon since that state started conducting elections by mail in 1998.
