Although Walmart retreated from its diversity initiatives first, Target has been the focus of more concerted consumer boycotts. Organizers have said they viewed Target’s action as a greater betrayal because the company previously had held itself out as a champion of inclusion. In 2023, a customer backlash over the annual line of LGBTQ+ Pride merchandise Target carried also cut into sales.

hopefully this means the boycott is actually working?
There have been several boycotts and, yes they helped.
boycotts are like the fork in the dinner place setting of civil action; there’s also the spoon, knife, plate and cup each have its use.
And, as an individual, boycotts mean a meaningful decrease. We buy much less from Target, probably more than 90% less but there are a couple things we rely on, but can’t easily get elsewhere.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, so any reduction is meaningful.
– and difficult; things are so much more unaffordable and difficult to get when you won’t use amazon or walmart.
