The number is completely made up, and I can’t find any references as to why they would think 100,000,000 is the sweet spot.
It’s funny if anyone thinks that strategy can compete with China in the long term. Hell, I’m not sure how much longer the west will stay “on top” in the short term (doesn’t really feel like winning lately).
And yet no one can describe what “winning” means when comparing states economically. It’s weird that as a species we haven’t figured out that illtreatment of our peers is why we haven’t advanced as a society anywhere.
