So ICE have murdered one person, shot another, thrown a flash bang and tear gas into a car full of children who then had to be hospitalized, attacked high schools where they beat staff and gassed students, gassed protestors, gone door to door breaking into houses and dragging out the occupants to be disappeared, pointed guns directly at citizens’ heads… and that’s just what one Canadian has seen from Minneapolis in the last few days. I have friends in Minneapolis and it pains me to see that great city being terrorized daily by this fascist government.

They are assuming they will heroically conquer Greenland first. Then there seem to be about 10 other countries on the USA’s “to invade” list.

I know it’s pedantic, but many of them are ex-military. It’s part of why they’re so primed to shoot anyone they find inconvenient.

The USA also has a deeply ingrained sense that every problem can be fixed through violence, if you just kill the right people the right way. A good chunk of the public may react by demanding escalation.

They happily murdered Iraqi civilians in the streets for years. The guy who shot Renee Good is a former US soldier in Iraq. I don’t think the US military is actually full of courageous individuals who will take a stand against illegal orders based on a rock solid morality.

I can’t see Carney committing troops. He seems firmly committed to appeasement, which never works and will signal to the USA that Canada is wide open for the taking.

It’s really important not to discard functional hardware now, even by throwing it into recycling. It’s more useful intact and may not be replaceable forever.

He knows the Europeans will put up a token, face-saving resistance but have no enthusiasm for a full-on shooting war. Unfortunately this seems to be a correct assessment. But Europe does still have the power to disrupt the US economy, and to start threatening to do so.

I was thinking more that they’d like the idea of better surveillance of their own population. If that happened there might be an incentive for them not to make it affordable to own capable hardware.
