I haven’t followed Zohran super closely, but this Fox interview was a Masterclass. Sure she’s not the strongest host they have, but he mopped the floor with everything she threw his way. You could almost see her sway in his favor. I was seriously impressed. If I was a New Yorker he’d have my vote. A breath of fresh air in this time of millionaire politics. He seems like the real deal.

She literally became less hostile because of how charming he was. He was literally talking past what she was prepared for and literally hit her with a “wait, this guy kinda makes sense”.

God damn. I’m sorry I’m so pessimistic but Mamdani can’t really exist can he? A leftist that is also so charismatic while keeping policy talk points as the focus of every answer? Pinch me. I would be suspicious of him more if he wasn’t pro Palestine and more importantly anti Israel.

The only issue I had was his police “apology”. I get why. It’s him trying to make sure he can control them as governor. It’s basically him acknowledging the militarized police state and playing politics. It’s not what we want to hear though.

I do like how he is trying to reduce police power by saying “we’re gonna make your job easier”. I think it’s a good move. We definitely need less police murdering people having a mental health crisis.

I just watched the interview. I thought his apology was fine. Surely if you want a safe society then you need an effective police force? Obviously you don’t want an unjust police force, and Zohran mentioned that, but I think what normal law-abiding people want is an effective and just police force who can keep everyone safe.

Yes. But the police force as it operates IS racist as fuck. Again, I understand the strategy for the apology. But he wasn’t wrong.

We gotta stop nitpicking when individual, calculated political responses for the general public aren’t as radical as we aspire to be. Leftists need to learn to stop looking gift horses in the mouth and take the W.

I think it depends on what is being discussed. If Mamdani suddenly said “The Israel and Palestine conflict is complicated and both side have their points” that would be a huge red flag. It SHOULD be something we held him accountable for.

But, like I said, I do understand the material need to control the police. So, I agree. But I think the context and material goals are what are important. I don’t think it’s “the left purity testing” or whatever. I think their are important points in which we can understand a political maneuver, vs. literally just trying to get support from right wingers.

Agreed. If nothing else, he has the gift of gab. Which is more than any other candidates. But what he’s saying is good too. Desperately wish we could have a candidate like this in the Midwest.
