If you have started a hobby, then you probably know enough to fake it for a brief conversation at least. Maybe a few dead projects laying around that you could point to? I don’t think they will give you a pop quiz. Oh well, you might have to pick up that hobby again to cover for your lies.

Haha so far I haven’t met another guitarist building pedals so I’m in the clear. When I do I’ma have to shift the conversation to software lol. Or learn from them.

Guitar pedals are extremely simple to breadboard if you know electronics. Drive is “just” one or many transistors amplifying the signal out of the guitar. I haven’t looked at what delay would take

I can make a circuit work sometimes but I don’t have the knowledge to debug my errors.

Delay looks hard. I’m starting to play with digital pedal stuff and that is just software, so I may try that instead.

I have considered creating VST effects for DAWs. I’m better at software than electronics and I have started doing music production so that would be a better fit for me.

Yeah that’d be awesome! You can probably make some really cool sounds I haven’t yet wanted to record anything I cared about so not tried to learn any DAWs yet

I suggest trying it out, it’s fun and the plugins and DAWs are like cool toys. I don’t record my guitar work, but make ambient songs and whatever else I want to experiment with like beats and effects. You can get started with free/cheap versions of the software tools. I have published a few songs to streaming services and we’ll see how that goes.
