      Up to the low 90s? Is this a joke, or is there something I’m missing?

      The real danger is fire. Slightly elevated heat and high winds are a recipe for disaster.

        Heat advisories are not just for the heat, but for heat outside of expectations. You wouldn’t give a heat advisory for a 90°F day in Florida, but in mid-autumn in southern California? Definitely appropriate.

        People might have their ACs off for the season, and the temperature is dangerous if no precautions are taken.

    Santa Ana Winds through Thursday. This is not atypical for the week of Halloween. On the plus side it’s the only way we get spooky skittering dry leaves. But it can also spread wildfires.
