+1 for microblogging. If you’re just looking for a text box to type whatever you’re thinking about and chat with your friends about it, mastodon is a much better experience. You can still interact with the threadiverse whenever you want because we’re federated together.
If you just want to put down your thoughts to share, it sounds like a blog fits better. Or a Mastodon account or other microblog.
If you have an interest in discussing them, and getting involved in others’ random thoughts, Lemmy communities like showerthoughts etc fit.
