While he definitely promotes an atmosphere of policing with impunity and violence, he doesn’t have any authority over state police. The Governor of Tennessee directs the executive branch of Tennessee state government. /info

I’m as anti-Trump as anyone, but the suggestion that a president has any direct control in the hiring or supervision of local police is a bit absurd. Besides which, the shooting happened in 2024, so not while Trump was President. This is much more attributable to the broad, decades-long failings in police training and culture in the US than to the actions of any presidential administration.

And the executive branch of the federal government has nothing to do with a school’s police department.

You’re also ignoring the fact that Trump wasn’t the president when it happened.
