My experience has been the polar opposite. Everyone I’ve met at ranges and competitions were very mindful and responsible people that were knowledgeable about the laws and history of the hobby. The most irresponsible gun handling I’ve ever witnessed was the one year I went to deer camp with a former coworker.
I’d say the overwhelming majority were mindful and responsible, what I commented on were the ones at those places and events that were not.
Could also be a regional thing - a few of them ive been to were in states that think the civil war was about states rights, and leave off the part about the rights being about owning people.
The one I mentioned who someone recently made an air hole in their leg is from one of those states.

Fair enough. I’ve never competed down south but having family in Georgia I’m all too familiar with the “War of Northern Aggression” types.

And yeah, same, my moms side is all over the south. They are also one of the many reasons I stopped using Facebook quite a few years ago haha
