I wrote a simple open-source utility program (golang) that gets added to the right-click menu in File Explorer (on windows via a registry modification, can be compiled for linux as well) to rename downloaded media in a format Jellyfin expects.

For example, say you have a folder Night.of.the.Living.Dead.1968.1080p.REPACK.WEB-DL.AAC2.0.x264 containing a file 34535sdfs23sfg-some-complicated-hash-sdfgsdf.mp4, after installing this utility program you could right-click on the folder and select Rename Downloaded Media after which the folder would be renamed Night of the Living Dead (1968) and the contained file renamed to Night of the Living Dead (1968).mp4 as this is the format Jellyfin expects.

I wrote this as Jellyfin metadata collection and renaming can often be painfully slow, as it’s doing the work remotely (pooling calls to APIs)
