In the modern anti-transgender panic, several states have passed laws banning transgender people from restrooms consistent with their gender identity. Early bills focused primarily on K-12 schools, but the scope quickly expanded. Some states extended bans to even private colleges and universities. One such expansion (Ohio, as of last year IIRC) includes not permitting new gender neutral bathrooms.
That’s because the cruelty is the point.
Just don’t call it gender neutral, call it “family” or “toilet room” put the sinks on the outside of the room.
