minus-squaregegil@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·1 month agoI think its because images are quite small in size compared to videos, meaning that not everyone can store so many of them. Even on lemmy, some instances are not caching posts from other instances, even if they are federated.
That would be unfortunate. When lemmy.world goes down, I think all their content is still available on every instance that federated with it.
