Let’s see: There’s them saying ICE will be at polling stations, there’s the SAVE act, there’s the war in Iran which Trump believes can stop elections, there’s always the classic Insurrection Act and Martial Law, there’s them claiming 2020 was stolen and therefore federalizing the election process. And then the redistricting, ending Mail In Voting, gerrymandering, threats, Dominion voting machines now being owned by a MAGA former election official.

All of that and people still think we’re having free elections?

No, it’s obvious that the republicans are going to try to manipulate the outcome in their favor.

However, if the swing against them is large enough they won’t be able to push the needle far enough back their way.

I think if the push against them is too strong, they’ll just go full dictator and enact autocracy. I mean we’re quickly marching there anyways but they have to go through some other steps before they just rid of Congress and the SC, though they might keep vestiges as an appeasement for the dumbest of the dumb.

I think we all know where this is going. And I want everrone who reads this to know, I am not an accelerationist and I am not giddy about this. But I don’t think there’s a peaceful way out of this, and that means a lot of people are going to die, like a lot, probably a lot of my loved ones and community, as well as potentially me. I’m not planning on sitting this one out on the sidelines. It’s either me and everyone I love in concentration camps/dead without a fight, or going down fighting and striving for a better world.

I just really don’t see many other options besides decades of resistance and guerilla warfare, which we don’t have the time for. In a few decades Earth will be so much worse due to an accelerated climate crisis. And this regime has shown itself to be part of a global threat, installing far right governments, or converting them alongside Israel and Russia. We literally do not have the commodity to not fight back with every fiber of being, when that time comes.

If climate change is already looking bad, it won’t just be the US pumping out full throttle carbon emissions, it will be most of the world. And yes, what we’ve done so far is laughable and pitiful, but imagine a world where green energy is banned for oil profits, and governments haven’t just stopped caring a little bit, but are actively determined to burn as much oil and coal as possible.

The population isn’t ready for armed resistance. I doubt they ever will be.

I’m getting tired of hearing this doomer sentiment. What’s your ultimate goal? Are you trying to convince people that it’s a lost cause to vote so you can tell us, “I told you so!” after the fact?

Apologies if I sound like I’m coming off doomer. I’m actually really not, I actually have a lot of hope and faith in the people, even if it seems hopeless right now. I think we get through this in community, mutual aid, resistance, and withholding our participation from the system.

I don’t think voting is going to change anything, not really… I still vote because I think it’s dumb not to, but I don’t expect to undo the master’s system with the master’s tools.

If you think pulling the lever to change this very system is not going to work then you are de facto doomering.

If you’re talking about ‘undoing the system’ and not doing anything about it, then you’re just being edgy.

Nope! That’s why we need everyone who is able armed and doing their duty protecting the polls from, uh, stormy weather

      Citizens militia y’all

I agree there is a lot to be worried about. But at the least it’s a good sign that the voters are turning out against Trump in a major way.
