China has been planing to reunite with Taiwan for decades, and they are clearly building a military capable of that. The US has committed to protecting Taiwan. That is the US has been planning war with china since not long after WWII. It hasn’t happened yet, it may never happen, but it is planned for and one of the more likely wars the US could get involved with.

If your country doesn’t have a plan to go to war with every other country in the world (separately) your military leaders are incompetent. Most counties far away are very low risk and so the plans don’t have to be well thought out, but you should have at least the start of a plan. The more likely war is the better you plans should be.

I am getting all the more confident that China will win that war. The US has been performing lousy over the past few seasons of War, and the new US management and owners instill anything but confidence in the team.

      Si vis pacem, para bellum.

If you look weak, you’re a target. The only way to have peace is to look strong.

If your country has a plan to go to war with every other country in the world and a warmonger gets elected then one of those plans will be implemented regardless of whether its justified. See: Iraq, Iran

The next fascist that gets elected will probably start a war with China regardless of the Taiwan situation.

Naw, these plans were sitting around for a long time. Trump just picked them up and ran with them, even though a lot of stuff is out-of-date. The biggest clue is the the girl’s school bombing, it was once part of an IRGC compound ten-ish years ago.

No he didn’t follow a plan. The plans said things like Iran would counter attack and try to close the strait. Trump and his team didn’t even look at the plans. They went with Netanyahu’s suggestion

              Outdated info from where?

Seems to me like it would have come from plans drawn up 10+ years ago about where to target.

They didn’t even evacuate their bases in advance! They didn’t even install air defenses at them!

I genuinely don’t know why you’re giving them the benefit of the doubt.

None of us here knows the truth, and I would posit that. It’s just as likely that that school was targeted intentionally, as it was used for the children of IRGC members.

Your point about demoralising the IRGC by killing their kids is interesting but is outweighed by the predictable public fallout and the resolve of IRGC to avenge the deaths.

Picking off leaders is one thing. Killing their kids is counterproductive.

At no point that did I say that the killing of the girls was a strategic move to demoralize the IRGC.

And I remain dumbfounded as to why you keep giving the benefit of the doubt to Trump and Hegseth.

I’m not saying it was a strategic choice, I’m saying I could easily see Pete getting off on killing those schoolgirls, and therefore approving the strike package based on that alone, before you even consider his crusades and killing Muslims fetishes.

In that scenario fact that they are the children of IRGC members just gives him an excuse to rationalize his choice to pleasure himself with their blood.

Again, I don’t know that’s what happened, but I know it’s just as likely as it being an “oppsie” when the man in charge of the Pentagon is an ultra Zionist Christian nationalist with crusader tattoos.
