I am willing to bet the Democrats will bitch out by early next week and fully fund the Trump gestapo.

Senate Democrats should agree with Republicans to fund all agencies except ICE and deal with funding ICE later. ICE is not hurting Americans as much the long lines at airports is.

your only upset because the “wrong” people are being mildly inconvenienced. having to wait hours in line or having your flight cancelled is the most privileged winging i have ever heard

No, I was concerned because I thought it would be foolish for Democrats to risk being blamed for the long lines at airports. It appears I was correct because the Senate did end the partial shutdown without curbs on ICE.

      1. I think Renee Good and Alex Pretti would strongly disagree with that statement. Same with everyone that was ripped out of their car and carried off in an unmarked vehicle to an ICE concentration camp.
      2. Democrats have floated that exact deal and Republicans said No. Like 8 times.

According to the news, Democrats want reforms at ICE before they will fund TSA. If you are correct, Democrats has to make clear that they are willing to fund all agencies except ICE now and address reforms at ICE later. It’s the blame game. Democrats have to make sure they don’t get the blame.

How much do you think the average American flies?

Less than half of us get on a plane in any given year, so most of us aren’t impacted one bit by long lines at airports because we just weren’t going to go to the airport anyway.

And if we do, most of us are only flying a couple of times a year. A couple extra hours at the airport a couple times a year isn’t that big of a deal.

Especially since odds are that you already planned to arrive early because there’s always the potential for all kinds of hold-ups and delays at the airport anyway.

It’s something like 10-15% of the population who account for something like 2/3 of all airline passengers. They’re the only ones this is really “hurting” (and even then I’d still say it’s more of an inconvenience than causing any actual hurt)

And conveniently, it’s also about 15% of the population who are immigrants, and every last one of them should consider themselves to be in real danger of having their lives uprooted or even ended by ice. They are actually being hurt.

      So no, fuck that.

Good point but discussion regarding ICE could be separated from funding of other agencies. The public might blame Democrats for the partial shutdown. If ICE misbehaves, Republicans will certainly get the blame.

The agency murdering and disappearing Americans into concentration camps isn’t hurting people as much as LONG. LINES.

Holy shit. You definitely win the “Morally Bankrupt Person on the Internet” award for today.

It’s who gets the blame. Democrats don’t want to get the blame for the long lines at airports. Let Republicans get the blame for the actions of ICE.

That is NOT what you said, you backpedalling little weasel.

You said long lines at airports are hurting Americans more than ICE. There is nothing you can say now to fix it.

Where did I say I didn’t say that? I could be incorrect. The important thing is who the American public will blame for the long lines., Democrats or Republicans. I think it would be smart for Democrats to not take the chance of being blamed and let Americans see the misbehavior of ICE, so Republicans get the blame.

I believe I did read that, but Democrats have to let the public know this, so they don’t get the blame. Some news outlets say that Democrats want to first reform ICE.

Yeah I mostly mention because it sounded like you were saying they should put forth something to fix it and they did. Fix tsa now and deal with funding other departments later. They can only agree with the republicans on a fix if republicans want to agree on a fix. The fix is there and its super easy. barely an inconvenience (for republican congresspersons)
