Never understood the desire to send live reporters into hostile territory. What does reporting live accomplish other than random deaths? Send a robot if you need footage.

Three different reasons. One, gathering facts and being able to present them to the world as they happen so the people that aren’t there can understand. The second is to show the horrors or war so the people that aren’t there can understand. The third is to twist the narrative so that the people that aren’t there can feel whatever way the propagandist chooses.

Consider how our opinions would have been shaped if there was no reporting from inside Gaza and all the info we got was from IDF or IDF-approved reporting from Israel. The purpose of sending live reporters in hostile territory is to avoid that outcome.

Journalism. It’s not just about footage, it’s about finding out what’s going on.
