I came here a few weeks ago after many years of reddit. Altogether I find discussions I enjoy, however, the posts and comments noticeably lean, well, tankie (I didn’t know that term before I came here). It’s not that I am looking for an echo chamber, but I also don’t want to spend my time reading propaganda. I’m really curious about a lot of things outside politics, as well as the opinions and arguments of reasonable people across the political spectrum, but I don’t want to listen to the boring canned lies of fascists and tankies. I realized that people celebrating communist dictators trigger me, and this is something I didn’t have to deal with before I started reading lemmy, I didn’t even know this type existed.
I also notice that accounts created just a few hours in advance come from other instances to brigade political posts. Because of how lemmy works, I can block individual users or communities, but not individual instances. Is there an instance that could be a “safe space” from this kind of brigading and tankie spam? Or a way to use the internet to read interesting things now that blogs died and then Reddit became whatever it became?

I never said it did. Just pointing out the calls of violence which you had requested evidence of. You sound like a bot or a wall poster. The negativity on Lemmy is called the real world. people come here to discuss things, and the overwhelming negativity is a reflection of reality.

I don’t know know what a wall poster is.

The negativity on Lemmy is not the real world. Not even close.

In fact, that’s why you are all are pissed. You are pissed that most people just don’t give a shit and they are not nearly as bothered by everything as you are.

You get more and more angry as you look around and think, “Why are people letting this happen?! How come there isn’t a revolution?!”

There will be no revolution. Lemmy has about 1.366 million registered users worldwide (with monthly active users way lower, around 48,000–50,000). That’s less than 0.0004% of the US population of roughly 343 million.

You stay mad, the rest of us keep going to starbucks in our SUVS, picking our kids up from school, going to yoga class, chilling at the park, and happily ignoring you and ragebait news.

I’m having a great time and life is fun. You should try it! But hey, if you think I’m a bot, then no worries. Right?

Ignoring the negativity means you are helpless when it comes to making improvements on your self or your community. That must be pretty isolating having to deal with real people in the real world.

Except that you are missing the point. Most people in the real world aren’t taking it as seriously as you and the rest of Lemmy. We don’t care. Your revolution won’t happen. Just accept it. My life doesn’t revolve and being mad and political like yours does. Go outside, dude.

I don’t really have a revolution in mind. I just want my constitution upheld. I want laws to be enforced, just those basic fundamental fabrics of society. I think you got me mistake with the communists. I’m just rooting for them in case they do a French Revolution with the former middle class. I’d love to see some house cleaning but I’m not talking about a revolution. I’m just saying if you think taking school lunches and giving them to private jet owners is an okay use of government resources, you’re probably a hypocrite with all the live laugh love shit.
