I’m doing this now. I have to limit the size of the area im re organizing to what i can manage in a day or two. And if I don’t finish I put things in bags to keep it organized until I can get back to it.
Heh, I almost dealt with this yesterday when I cleaned up my room a tad. Everything was scattered on the floor and in order to clean up things better, I had to shuffle everything around until I got everything put back away, albeit imperfectly.
This is one of those situations where ADHD people need to keep going and find a home for the displaced items, even if it’s back where it was before. In fact, I’d recommend putting everything back either where it was before, or close to it. Maybe just keep like things with like.
If you’re ADHD, you’re going to forget where you “reorganized” everything to and you’ll end up tearing everything apart looking for that thing you put away yesterday.

I bought a few plastic storage bins on Amazon, but you can get them anywhere, and the dimensions are listed so you can pick the appropriate sizes. I categorize them very broadly (e.g. tech, clothes, miscellaneous, etc.). Whenever I’m trying to clean and I get overwhelmed or run out of time, I put the remaining items in the relevant bins, and then put the bins out of the way in the basement.
That way, I don’t have stuff sitting all over the floor, and I know where to look if I can’t find some random thing. Limit the number of storage bins you have, or else things will get all disorganized again. Sure, the items inside the bins are in a mess, but I can close the lids, put them in the basement, and forget about them unless I need to find something. Additionally, keeping the items in plastic storage bins makes it easy to move if necessary, since you don’t have to box up all the assorted items into cardboard boxes.
