Yeah it seems like since COVID19 and the release of RG350 there’s been a real increase in the amount of progress
Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, gaming in general, alternative operating systems, and all things modding.
Trying to post and comment often in an effort to add to Lemmy’s growth.

The Vita also has a lot of source ports.
For the right price it can be a pretty good deal considering it can play PSX and below as well as PSP games and a lot of handheld emulators still struggle with Vita emulation.
The RG35XXSP has a GBA SP clamshell style and is relatively new with a lot of positive reviews
It depends what you want to emulate. Most consoles can do PSX and below without any trouble. A lot of devices share the same chipset so that’s a big thing to look out for.
If you want to get into things like PS2 and GameCube you are going to have to pay more and likely consider Android.
A console with HDMI out and Bluetooth might be what you are looking for so you can potentially have that desktop experience you are used to.
I think Batocera-based custom firmwares can show retro achievement availability from the games list
Just a heads up the “10,000 in 1” game claims that every of these devices advertises isn’t something you should consider. It’s going to be a lot of games you’ve never heard of for older systems like the NES so they fit on lower capacity SD cards. Potentially in multiple languages. It also comes on SD cards most people would recommend replacing.
It’s better to just download the entire library, individual games, or an already curated collection.
You could crack your own games. Not exactly legal but it would mean the games wouldn’t require your account to run.
Kind of like how if you share a computer with a sibling you can use a Steam emulator so you don’t have to switch back and forth between accounts or own two copies of the game.
Gotham Steel pans. They work decent the first couple times but I found the non-stick part of it wore down real quick
Internet Historian made a pretty good video about it a couple years ago
Is that substantial though or is it like calling 120V something like 110V/115V?

When you say upgraded do you mean changed to a new device or just updated the OS?
If it’s the former you might be able to extract the app and transfer it and crack it yourself.
I believe the term punk has kind of drifted towards a catch-all term to describe something that clashes against what is considered the norm for most people.
There are definitely traditional punk themes in genres like cyberpunk and solarpunk. I feel like with dieselpunk and steampunk it’s largely a matter aesthetics.
Kind of an easy way to describe broad themes. If you are looking for a game similar to Mad Max for example with a post apocalypse desert that’s full of scavengers it might be easier to just use the term desertpunk.
Are you saying that because something you posted got deleted?
I imagine it’s a tough community to moderate. A lot of truly unpopular opinions are controversial or otherwise offensive and people don’t want to up vote that kind of content despite that being the idea behind the sub.
What is it exactly? Some kind of developer mode to bypass the login screen?
I wonder how this will work with local accounts
It depends what you are after.
Even though Google has a long history of killing their products I doubt they’d do it to Google Drive anytime soon. You could upload it there and make it publicly available. Proton Drive is newer and preferred by a lot of people for numerous reasons. It has a 5GB limit. You could probably use that.
I feel like the key is having at least one other place where it is in the event one service dies.
That said there are paid services out there that would likely keep your files indefinitely and are unlikely to shutdown anytime soon.
Kind of similar in the unpleasant aspect but I’d say someone who doesn’t know when to stop and take things seriously.
Have you not had much luck using operators?
I’ve found them relatively reliable
