  • Educate me on military [lack of] culture and tattoo subculture, is it let’s enroll anywhere they’ll give us a gun so we can shoot little brown people and let’s ink anything anywhere until society pays attention?

So I don’t give a fuck what people do, you want to join Blackwater and do whatever shit they do, go ahead. Want to tattoo stupid nazi symbols you know nothing about? Suuuure. Just don’t expect a vote from educated people with actual culture. But then again it just occurred to me that there’s not so many of the latter, given the current level of US politics… This guy is probably at the right place at the right time. Carry on.

  • Bro if he’s not a nazi - that is, if he didn’t know what kind of skull he was permanently inking on his chest - then he is uneducated enough not to be suitable for public office.

But even if you do enough mental gymnastics and forget about the nazi tattoo, the fact that he was a Blackwater merc should be enough to dissuade anyone from voting for him.

If this man somehow made a 180° in his 40s and went from a nazi merc to some sort of leftie, that’s awesome for him. That’s nothing short of a miracle right there, divine intervention kind of stuff. Big clap. Still shouldn’t be voting for him and he should be humble enough not to be running in the first place. Let someone who had it right all along give it a go.

  • I like food and my basic needs covered.

But generally speaking, let’s see what we’ve got: Military is obviously out. Working for governments? Mostly out except for education related posts and some other niche stuff here and there. Banking out. Energy companies: mostly out except niche ones into renewables. Big tech like Amazon Microsoft Apple Google etc is out of the question. Car companies out. Anything owned by billionaires, out. Any sector that contributes to global pollution like meat industry, fishing industry, logging, Monsanto, 3M, DuPont etc etc out! Any company that employs people under minimum wage, out. Surely I’m forgetting a lot of stuff, but even with this small list, what the fuck is left?

  • I think the ability or willingness to have a decent conversation with people who have a different opinion is important for the advancement of ideas and a cornerstone of what we call civilization. I find it so weird to see how people “debate” these days instead of conversing, it’s somehow more about winning than finding the truth of a matter. Watch for example how political discourse has changed over the last few decades, compare discussions from the 70s like Chomsky vs Foucault to the circus of today. People are already largely separated in different platforms, blocking only exacerbates the bubble effect. That being said, to each their own and I hope your life is better for it.

  • Lack of education breeds extremism. Kirk’s rhetoric is moronic and divisive. He made a living out of spreading hate and in that sense what he got was some old testament eye for an eye shit from a product of that rhetoric.

His politics have caused the death of thousands of innocent people so I don’t care that he’s dead, but someone else will replace him. He was so successful because people are uneducated and thus easy prey of nazi simplistic logic.

The bad thing is that assassinations like this are replacing political discourse. People don’t discuss any more, conversations are considered as confrontations, nobody is able to have an honest civilized exchange with people who hold opposing views.

We here on lemmy are pretty much aligned, others are similarly aligned in some nazi platform somewhere and there is no ideological friction. Hell even here, when people read something they disagree with they just downvote like fucking morons instead of engaging in conversation.
