I guess it heavily depends on where you live. Where I live there are zero stray cats just wandering the streets. The shelter I got one of my cats from actually did have a ton of former strays, which really surprised me, but that shelter is smack dab in the middle of a pretty rural area and there you’ll have some. But definitely not in the cities.
Same here. It’s simply not as active as Reddit, obviously. But I found that I was wasting way too much time on Reddit anyway. Infinity was still working for free this whole time, which was the 3pa I used for years, but I still deleted it about a week ago. My sub feed was way less active and the all page was even worse than usual with 80% just aita kind of text posts. I’m on lemmy maybe 30 minutes a day, but that’s a good thing for me.
I just spend like 10 minutes copying over all the color codes from my carefully tweaked Infinity theme, lol. Love it
Have you tried simply being too poor to ever eat out and being forced to cook everything yourself?
I definitely do. My dumb-dumb brain doesn’t really get the whole neurotransmitter thing, but as stingy as it is with dopamine and nor-adrenaline, as generous it is with endorphins. Oh, you’re 5 minutes into your cardio warm-up of your hour long work-out? Enjoy this heap of endorphins for the next 2 hours. I feel good, it’s extremely meditative because thoughts are just on pause, I love getting stronger and more in shape, and I always go in the sauna at the end of my work-out which is a huge motivator before going and makes it all even better at the end. I always walk out of the gym completely zen and satisfied.
If you don’t get such an easy endorphin rush, I don’t know what to do. I can imagine it would suck in that case.
I used to have a pretty intense not-like-the-other-girls fase in my teens, and I never wore skirts or dresses, and felt the same way you do. Then I got over that internalized misogyny and started experimenting with clothes a little, and the first time I put on a dress it was like a hallelujah moment. The most comfortable thing in the goddamn world. They do not restrict your movement at all, that’s only a problem if you wear knee-high pencil skirts of stiff fabric. In colder seasons you wear leggings under them which are equally comfortable. It was so incredibly comfy I did a complete 180 and it took me 10 years to wear a pair of pants again, and that’s only because the waist high mom jeans in style now are so loose and non-restricting. Any other style of pants I won’t touch with a 10 feet pole.
Damn, almost 28 years on this planet and I’ve just now learned that there’s a very handy separate option for that. Kinda makes sense if you think about it for 5 seconds, but I just never did. I do know how to deal with images properly though, so I’m not a complete idiot.
I once forgot to respond to a friend for 5 months, lmao. Luckily he knows me well enough to know I sometimes forget and I was kind of going through a personal crisis, so a ‘hey man kinda forgot to respond for 5 months, how are you’ was enough to make it all right again
Dutch. It’s ze/zij for both singular female and plural they.
Funny, English is also my second language but in my first language ‘she’ and plural ‘they’ are the same word, only distinguished by the verb, so it never seemed that weird to me.
Yeah, I just voluntarily chose to do it for 9 years every single day, even though I didn’t actually like it anymore the last 2 of those.
Cats show their butt as a greeting and a sign of trust and friendship. They like you!
Agreed. If I’m going on vacation I avoid cities as much as possible and want to be in the middle of nowhere in nature. That means no hotels for 10s of kilometers, but there’s usually at least one person renting out a room or something similar. I’ve also never experienced any of the things in this meme in places like that, but that could also be because it’s an American thing, which wouldn’t surprise me.
I only do it immediately when I have very few dishes. Like for breakfast I only use a knife, a spoon and a bowl, that gets washed immediately, or a plate and a knife for lunch. When I’ve cooked with multiple pans for dinner, I’ll do it the next day. But it’s still nice that there’s no pile-up of dishes for those little things, and it takes 30 seconds, so why not.
I don’t dislike music, but I do view it as something very situational. I only listen to music when I’m going somewhere by bike or foot or when I’m working out. I blame my 4 years of being a mail carrier for creating this 1 to 1 connection between moving and listening to music. I never put on music when I’m home. But I dislike ‘background’ anything in general. I’ve never in my life put on a movie, TV show or podcast as ‘something to listen to in the background’. That’s baffling to me. Music is the same I guess. If I’m home it’s automatically background because I’m not gonna sit om my couch and stare at a wall while I listen to music. While if I’m working out or going somewhere I can intentionally listen.
I’m a historian and I would gladly talk at length to anyone about my particular fascination of the moment, no matter what they took or how high they are. I think I would even enjoy it more if a person was on psychedelics because they are way more open-minded and curious than sober people.
Tomato went on vacation, never came back
