  • I wore comfortable shoes I can run in to all first dates after that.

This absolutely breaks my heart to read. Like I as a man will probably never relate to this struggle or be able to understand it on a personal level but probably all of my woman friends would read this and either think, “hey, that’s good advice” or “yup I already do that as well as XYZ to stay safe”

Like fuck. How is it that I put exactly zero effort into not being a creepy rapey predator, and I’m not chasing women to their cars, yet at the same time every woman that I know has a story at least somewhat similar? Why does it feel almost inherently true that there will always be a subset of shitty guys that view women as their prey/right/property/conquest?

What a shit world we’re living in.

I’m sorry for rambling and I’m sorry that this is something you have to live with.

  • Sorry man, I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking.

If you are able to load the content on your computer without infringing copyright laws, you’re allowed to circumvent whatever the website has in place to store whatever data you would like from whatever website you would like, regardless of the nature of the site, so long as the content is legal (is not CP) and again not being presented in a way that infringes aforementioned copyright laws.

If you’re asking why the copyright laws exist, I can’t really help you with that one.

  • Who said that you can’t scrape content from the other place?

If you scraped a pirate site and stored a bunch of links to copyrighted content you’d probably be fine,

If you’re referring to the last line, I say I wouldn’t want authorities to find it because I don’t want to have to explain it. I’m 99% sure someone would not just store links to a bunch of pirated content for fun, they probably have accessed said pirated content, now you have to explain to the authorities why you have links to pirated content without implicating yourself in copyright infringement.

Like I said, probably fine, I just wouldn’t want the hassle if I somehow got caught.

  • This reminds me of my grandpa, who gave me my first pocket knife when I must have been 6 or 7. I was really into making bows and arrows out of twigs and branches I’d found in the yard, and he gave it to me simply as a tool for a hobby I’d formed. Everyone freaked out at first, but he taught me how to use a knife safely and I don’t think I ever cut myself (as a child anyways. I’m a reckless adult).

If we stop teaching kids to be afraid of stuff because of what might happen, and instead teach them about how things work and the consequences of misusing them, I think we’d have less people afraid to use the stove in their 20s.
