Say what you will, the lightsaber app was cool and definitely worth $0.99 to get custom colors.

He’s clearly not a source of knowledge or good opinions on fucking anything.
So here’s my take on this, because I’ve seen similar personalities make similar pivots.
This guy is a disgusting, bumbling idiot, but he speaks with certainty and condescension. The curious onlooker will see him, get trapped by the mindset you describe (“oh man, this guy’s a trainwreck, let’s see how much worse off he is than me”), find it funny and continue watching.
After establishing some sort of “trust” with the audience (“I’m a big dumb idiot who makes you laugh”) he pulls out the manipulative speech. “You’d have to be stupid to-”; “this guy’s a retard!”; “It doesn’t make any sense”, etc. Once you get to this part of the steam, you’ve already established that the dude’s an idiot, but you also think he’s funny. You’re faced with the decision to either laugh along with his “jokes”, or “accept” that this buffoon is “more educated” on a topic than you are. The fragile, uninformed audience these people are after are much more likely to go the latter route.
I don’t think they said farming was fun, and I’m also not sure that you lived on a farm “before people started measuring time” 🤷🏾♂️
Did you edit the title to remove that she’s related to him? I thought I saw it in the title but now it’s gone.
One thing that helped was stopping to think about why I wanted to do each thing.
Boom. This was big for me too. Usually my issue is holding myself to non-existent time constraints, like “I want to do X but I have to get Y done or I can’t until next weekend.” Ok, why is it a problem that Y can’t be done next weekend? Obviously if it’s something like a chore or errand it doesn’t apply, but if it’s just a little side project I’ve been working on, Y can wait if I’d rather do X, especially if I’m just going to sit and wallow over not doing either instead.
And everyone knows it’s impossible to mistake one sound for another!
I don’t see what you’re talking about, zip tie or poorly parked SUV
I don’t have an exact answer for your question, but I will say that when it comes to shows like these you have to remember that they’re very much TV shows and are heavily edited to present a specific narrative. I’m not saying that’s necessarily bad or nefarious, but you just have to take the events and the way in which they happen with a large serving of salt.
A family member was approached by their team (Holme’s) to do the cabinets for a home that was being redone in our area. They literally wanted to pay him in exposure. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how a majority of their contracts work; hire a bunch of people to do the actual labor, tell them their payment is in advertising, then stand in front of the camera the whole time and take all the credit when the family shows up.
Is that your guess, or are you puzzled by the concept?
Close, I DM’ed a short-lived DnD campaign a year ago.
I remember having a thought one day as a young kid while interacting with a DVD main menu (the kind that had clips from the movie playing in the background, and would play a specific clip depending on what menu you went in to).
“This is basically how video games work, there’s a bunch of options you can choose from and depending on what you do it shows you something. Videogames are just DVD menus with way more options.”
I grew up to not be a programmer.
Can’t you just check your bank account?
I have “saved” a lot of money over the years … yet my bank account doesn’t reflect that.
What the hell was the point of your original question 😂
Even this depends on diction.
“What is your favorite color?” - School teacher.
“WHAT- is your favorite color?” - Bridge Keeper
For real. I opened Lemmy the other day and had to block someone for the first time because they’d spammed the shit post community with pages of them within a few minutes. Like I enjoy viral memes as much as the next guy, but one person completely overran my entire feed from dozens of communities by posting what amounts to the same thing over 100 times in 2 minutes. I genuinely don’t get why people are trying to convince everyone they think it’s funny or enjoyable.
Its funny that “ur comment sounds AI btw 😏” has become the new “sick burn” for people with no argument. Especially when the comment in question reads absolutely nothing like an LLM.
The advice is more meant for changing through gears, not starting from a stop. As mentioned, you don’t really need much gas to get going.
Awesome!
I usually just push a sharpie against the offending light. Still visible so I can see it if need be but not much brighter than that.
Was going to suggest the LotR trilogy, but this is much more appropriate. Also, this gives the doggo a chance to see if they like the universe of Middle Earth and Tolkien’s literary style before committing to something lengthier.
