I’m honestly surprised the number is that low. If I wasn’t getting paid, I’d be looking for another job immediately.

There are unfortunately a lot of stupid people in the US who will watch and believe whatever slop they are fed. See Fox News for example.

I am sure they are weighing whether it’s cheaper to continue to let the government run it, or to go back to simply privatizing airport security again and paying for it themselves.

This blog post has some real “surejan.gif” energy. I’ll believe there are improvements if/when I see them.

I think this depends on where you live. For example, gasoline is heavily subsidized in the US, and federal gas taxes haven’t been raised since 1993.

Socializing the losses isn’t real capitalism. The US has some weird “socialism for the oligarchy” thing going on.

“Independents” don’t really exist anymore. There are non-voters, and people who won’t admit they’re Republican.

2/3 of Americans still won’t buy an EV. They love overpaying for overpriced, oversized gas guzzlers. This has all happened before and will probably happen again. This is the country that elects people who want to tear down windmills and solar panels so they can “drill baby drill”.

They’re still trying to court republicans, when they should be going for non-voters.

H1B is just the same problem as H2A and is heavily abused. The poster is correct — this is a way to avoid paying what those jobs are actually worth.

And you’re the one paying for it.

I hope what this means is:

• Most of these employees have moved on to other jobs but will still get back pay for between the date they were fired and the date they turn in their official resignation.
• VOA has to hire new employees for those who moved on, and the new hires will certainly ask for higher pay before agreeing to take the job.

Microsoft probably doesn’t care at this point.
