My wife always just gets mad and implies that I (the primary cleaner of the house) moved or misplaced her perpetually lost items, and 10/10 times she figures out that it was indeed her own goddamn self who misplaced said thing. Truly, this has happened almost weekly for well over a decade and I swear it has never been me.
I don’t even get annoyed anymore. I find immediate satisfaction in knowing she’s eventually going to realize she played herself.
I am the wife in this scenario. Although I really suspect she does throw shit out without consulting me.
Do you also leave a mix of both dirty and “clean” clothes laying about on the bathroom/bedroom floor all week, and then get irritated when your partner eventually picks them up and puts them in the dirty laundry hamper? 😅
They’re sorting piles!
Hell no, I leave my mix of dirty and clean clothes on the “dining” room table like a normal person.
Evangelion colors
evangelion theme suddenly fills all our heads
an amalgam of anime themes fills my head as I frantically search my brain for where I put the Evangelion theme
Thank god this is one thing I don’t really have an issue with. I grew up watching my dad constantly lose and forget literally everything important all the time, which I think trained me to always keep track of shit. On the bad side, on the 1/100 times I genuinely have no clue where something is, and it’s not in the spot I thought it was, I get extra upset
That’s fine when you live alone, but it is going to make relationships difficult. Oof, and you will murder any children you have before they reach 3 years old.
Wondering if I remembered to bring my car key while driving
more than once, I’ve found myself using the flashlight on my phone to look for my phone.
or using the find my phone app to find the phone you are holding in your hand
Looked for a thing yesterday evening for 20 minutes. It was on the table in plain sight…
All the time. I took 15mg of Adderall at midnight last night with the intention to clean the house. I slept for 5 hours. This is supposed to help this kind of shit. What the fuck.
If you have ADHD, it’s not uncommon simulants have a somewhat calming effect. Just FYI.
I do have ADHD. I was diagnosed less than two months ago at age 41. It was a hell of a fight to get diagnosed.
Wow, I’m glad that I’m not the only one, and I (probably) don’t have a brain tumor.
On more than one occasion I’ve completely lost my phone, sometimes for an hour or two because it was sitting on a black surface on my desk, in the kitchen or in my bedroom.
I refuse to get dark cases for this reason! I have too much black
🎵 I see a black door and I want it painted red
more colors up in here, come on and do it, Fred 🎵
And yet then I can remember where some obscure thing is in the middle of a random pile I haven’t touched in 4 months
Those moments are the best.
You lost something so you go looking for it and you can’t find it so you give up. Three months go by and you forgot about the thing and it suddenly appears in front of you but you don’t need it anymore so you put it away. A month goes by and now you need it again but it’s again hopelessly lost and can’t be found.
And the worst part is that you can picture the thing in its place in your head because you just walked past it every day for three months, semi-consciously clocking its location. But now that you need it, it has vanished.
Each time looking for it for at least 10 minutes, so this time I’m going to put it at the logical place.
Time passes…
Looking for hours at the four logical places I could’ve put it, then giving up. Coming across it a week later and thinking “well that IS a logical place for it to be”
I have discovered my superpower. I can set something down in front of me in plain sight. Then, without going anywhere, without looking away from where I set the thing down, and even, incredibly, without actively thinking about anything else, I can proceed to lose the item so utterly and completely that I end up looking for it in other locations, even though I’m pretty sure I didn’t go anywhere in the last several seconds.
I can also hide things so well they won’t be found for months, if ever. All I have to do is be all like “yes, here it is, the most obviously intuitive and ideal place where this item should be stored, I will put it here and then I will always know where it is, because naturally such a perfect spot will be the first place I think to look” and then go to sleep.
About a month ago I lost my phone somewhere in my house. I still have not found it.
What really stings is that the thing I was doing with it when I lost it was creating a backup onto a flash drive, which is lost along with it.
Ouch! You couldn’t use any of the services to find your phone? Usually they can ring your phone even if it’s on silent. At least you know it’s in your house! I once hung my hearing aid on the chandelier while on the phone. Completely forgot where I placed it and took at least a week to find it. Might’ve been longer since my parents and I were starting talks of buying a new one before I happened to look up at dinner. All that to say, it will turn up! Don’t lose hope!
You couldn’t use any of the services to find your phone?
GrapheneOS doesn’t come with any preinstalled (doing so would kind of go against the whole privacy ethos), and I hadn’t yet gone through the hassle of setting up an Owntracks server so I could have a third-party one. I tried calling it, but by the time I realized it was missing, it was out of battery.
I am in this diagram and I don’t like it.
