Best weed killer I’ve ever used is a mixture of White Vinegar, Salt, and a drop of Dawn dish soap in a sprayer.
There’s no need to poison the earth with forever chemicals just because we don’t like the way some plants look.

Leave out the salt unless you want more long term control. Vinegar on the leaves in the heat of the day should be enough, but you need to use the hardware store stuff (30-40%) instead of the grocery store stuff (5-9%). Organic vapor respirator is recommended, it’s strong stuff that will hurt you.

We have a few acres we had to clear of blackberries and many noxious weeds as well as normal weeds. Bberries need the rootballs ripped up as do plenty of the noxious weeds. For the normal weeds we’ve done the salt/dawn/vinegar mix as we try not using the nasty chemicals whenever possible (we use a well). Vinegar only has very temporary weed control effects. I’ve used it plenty as I bought a pallet of the strong stuff which is quite expensive, btw. I am toying with tossing just plain rock salt out on our gravel area to control the weeds there. I am trying to figure out what harm that might do otherwise before I do so.

I also wonder about the use of dishsoap. The multi-syllabic chemical ingredients it contains are plenty (not as bad as weed killer chems, I know), so is it better to use when you have to use so much more (and repetitively)? IDK. We settled on Bonide for now which is supposed to be an organic weed control product. It seems to work, but I won’t crow about it. Weeds are still very resilient!

I thought all home remedies mixed vinegar with baking soda to render it useless.
