Im good at building simple tech architectures by saying no to tech we dont need.
Unfortunately nobody listens, management keeps forcing the fastest shitty duck tape solution, and thinking its a great idea to copy paste entire tech environments because its the fastest.
It sounds like you are also skilled at maintaining a clear sense of your values even after repeated exposure to pressures against them. It’s a good skill to have, though super frustrating to have to use, I imagine
Yeah I have gotten confidence in my opinions after seeing so many tech environments turn to dog shit.
But at the same time, since its not MY tech environment, it doesnt affect me so much when it turns so bad that every day is just problems to fix. Then I move on to another job.
I say no a lot. But at the same time, I also try to show excitement in whatever my boss thinks is good. The tech is interesting, the tech can be objectively good. But it doesn’t fit our use case, and it seems like shoehorning something in just for buzz words is not a great idea.
The really good tech comes out of a need, and we don’t have the same need as those other people.
