Political parties are toxic and should be abolished. At the very least they should have zero acknowledgement or support from the state, including use of state support for their “primaries” and listing of party affiliations next to candidate names on ballots in the actual elections.
I disagree. Political parties allow people to band together to fund campaigns and that allows people that could otherwise never afford it to have a chance at getting elected. If you remove parties then the only people that will get elected are those that have the money to fund an election. Sure you can fundraise but you still need an infrastructure for that, which costs money, you need advertising, you need event organizers, you need security and so on. If your fundraising doesn’t bring in enough money then how are you gonna pay for all those things? Parties supply some of those services and the cost is spread among their members or fundraised through party means.
If you want to abolish parties then you should have state funded elections with no outside funding allowed. That would make it so everyone receives the same funds and are on the same playing field no matter how personally wealthy they are.
I don’t see a problem with that. Let the Republicans vote in their primary however they want. The RNC is a private organization.
The only changes we should make to actual elections are universal vote by mail and ranked choice voting.
He’s not talking about primaries.

He’s not taking about primaries, and in fact he said 15 states, so he only wants to take over voting in startes that are difficult for him.
Approval, not RCV/IRV.
ban FPTP and gerrymandering.
And lots of early voting by dropping off ballots. Ideally several weeks of it.
