Wu-Tang is for the
childrenlemmings. They might not be anything to fuck with either.
I’m mostly on the 20 meter band myself. There’s an active packet community on 14.105 LSB.
I was just reading Contact by Carl Sagan. It’s all about bands. Small world.
The Roots (first four albums especially)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor / A Sliver Mt. Zion
Portishead, Massive Attack
Public Enemy
Fuckin magnets
To be fair, I have an Engineering degree and still don’t know how magnets work.
Last time I saw a good juggalo joke was Juggalos for Mitt. And that was like 2008
I never heard any jokes from ICP. I only ever heard how to survive when everybody hates you.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard because they are carrying all of the genres
All them Witches and King Buffalo are no slouch either.
(King Gizzard has no right to be as amazing as they are at every single music genre.pick one… It’s insane how good they are.)
There is another band similar to kglw that is called doom gong that is local to the midwest of the united states which does some pretty cool stuff too
Overall? Between the Buried and Me
By genre?
Black Metal - White Ward (Slavs Ukraini!), Ihsahn
Death - First Fragment, Ulcerate
Instrumental - Animals as Leaders, CHON
(Post-)Hardcore - The Fall of Troy
Progressive (that isn’t BTBAM) - Protest the Hero, Ne Obliviscaris
A user of culture I see. I’ve not heard of Ne Obliviscaris, so I’ll have to check them out
I’d start with either Citadel or Exul. PLEASE return with your assessment.
I got a few songs into Citadel and I want to like them, but I feel they’d be better served as instrumental based on the painters of the tempest trilogy and pyrrhic. I’ll see about giving Exul a chance though, thanks for the recommendation!
Thats fair! The instrumental portion is absolutely where my ear is tuned Into. The guitar solo on Misericorde pt 2 on Exul is one of my favorite solos of all time and I’ve heard a LOT of guitar solos.
Overall … Misery Index
By Genre
Death Metal - Dying Fetus/Misery Index
Grindcore -Pig Destroyer/Rotten Sound/Napalm Death
Post - Storm of Light
Stoner/Desert -Lowrider/Kyuss/Dozer
Brant Bjork - that man is his own genre.
Did I do okay?
I can’t wait for DeathFest this year!
System of a Down
I thought I had overcome my SOAD addiction but it came back a few hours ago
Aww, I still remember singing along to Radio/Video with my daughter when she was two.
She’ll be graduating college in May. 💀
Parents with good music taste lead to kids graduating college B)
Congratulations for her achievement!
Opeth, although I don’t love their more recent drift away from death metal (dear god it’s been a decade now). I’ve really loved Cattle Decapitation’s newer stuff, too.
Oh and I second the guy declaring that Wu Tang is for the Children
I like you. You have the same taste as me.
Cattle has been on a streak the last decade or so. 4 or 5 albums that are all incredible.
My friend was my introduction to Opeth and also fell out of love with them around that time.
His new passion band is Castle Rat, he’s absolutely convinced they are the next big thing.
He’s also very excited about us going to see Owlbear in April.
Maybe you will like them too
Thanks, I’ll check them both out!
King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard. Their live shows kick ass and they’ve got such amazing chemistry together. Love listening to them jam.
They Might Be Giants
Saw them recently in Glasgow. Absolutely fantastic.
This is way too low
Their music is so wholesome.
No one in the world ever gets what they want And that is beautiful Everybody dies frustrated and sad And that is beautiful
You have inspired me. I am listening to Lincoln.
Probably Sungazer but Polyphia and Casiopea are close seconds
I love Polyphia, so I’ll have to check out Sungazer and Casiopea
If you’re looking for stuff similar to Polyphia specifically check out Ichika Nito and Marcin if you haven’t listened to either.
Oh yeah, those are both right up my alley, thank you!
Those are great. I especially like Marcin’s flamenco stylings.
You might also enjoy AFØNK
Sungazer is amazing! I need more Adam Neely in my life. High quality picks there.
evanescence. I’ve loved Amy since i was a teenager.
I wasn’t too much of a fan till I saw them live (twice!) and they actually slay. Great band!
Ween
I was never as into Ween as some of my friends were, but The Mollusk is a masterpiece IMO.
It’s kinda like Mr Bungle - California. If you can casually make an album of pop music that good, you have my eternal respect, even if I never fully get into the less approachable work.
The Mollusk is amazing. Not really explored any of their other work because I don’t want to be disappointed that it doesn’t live up to the brilliance of The Mollusk.
Imo most of their music sucks bigtime. Some people like it, idk what they see in it.
But yes, The Mollusk is a masterpiece.
It’s all good. Seriously. All.
Try Pure Guava
It’s hard to pick one between ELO, Jamiroquai, the Bee Gees and Linkin Park.
I was so sad to learn of Chester’s passing. He was a trouble man. Very troubled :(
While Chester was one of kind - I really like Emily Armstrong. I saw them live a few months ago and she put on a SHOW. I got worried when the first few songs she was getting the crowd to sing most of the lyrics for the old Chester stuff, but then she let it rip for the second half and fucking tore the place down.
I saw them in Vancouver last year too.
I think she’s perfect on the new music but her singing the old stuff just isn’t there yet.
Which is fair, she will improve on that but I think she just needs more of her own music before she will get a fair response from the crowd. Which is just a matter of time so this isn’t even a complaint
Coheed and Cambria
