Hello. I am new to mastodon, just made my account. I chose mstdn.ca. Who should I follow that isn’t boring? memes, humour, news, leftist politics, shitposts, etc. or is it serious at all times like bluesky?
I follow Hashtags, first. Sometimes someone says something I find striking, I check their post history & follow if really interesting. But mostly, hashtags.
well, remember mastodon is just a platform of the twitterverse side of the fediverse.

Follow hashtags of topics that interest you and follow people on there you like after looking at their profile then follow people they boost that you like and slowly get follows that way is how i would recommend.
Every week we have a “monsterdon” watch party where we all watch the same movie at the same time and comment on it under #monsterdon.

keep in mind you don’t need to go looking for people to follow on Mastodon. it’s often easier to follow hashtags instead, and you’ll find people to follow pretty easily after that. if you want memes, then a good place to start is obviously #memes. same goes for any other topic.
I’m still new to it, personally I go to ‘trending’ and follow people I notice because they posted a couple interesting things recently. That choice can be very personal. For instance my 3 favorites right now are George Takei, Hitchiker’s Guide Quote Bot, and Coffee date with ADHD - to each their own :)
follow a few hashtags of what interests you, then follow people who post what you like under those hashtags. once you follow a few people, you’ll see what they boost (that’s like retweet on xitter), and you can follow the authors of the boosted posts.
