I tried Minetest a while ago and was never really able to get into it. The new player experience was rough, a lot of decision paralysis. The texture style can vary between mods and servers. It didn’t feel very cohesive. I don’t know if that has changed since I last played, but to me it didn’t feel like a minecraft killer then.

From what I can tell, Hytale was supposed to be a bit like Terreria in 3D, as well as a platform for minigames. The gameplay and graphics from the trailers looked really good. I’m sure it would have been a Minecraft killer for some. (Ex. players who primarily play for the minigames like bedwars)

I feel like that might have been the point. Rather than “using a car to go from A to B” they walked.

If they are incorrect, lying, and don’t realize it, but still arguing in good faith, then their arguments will fall short when challenged. If they are arguing in bad faith, then it’s a different story.

I’ll admit the claims they made are perhaps overly broad and difficult to challenge, but it is entirely within the realm of possibility that they can back it up with examples / evidence.

Jumping straight to calling them out is pretty disingenuous. Even if their points are more disingenuous and misleading, you shouldn’t be fighting fallacy with another fallacy.

Here I’ll do it for you: I disagree with @opinionhaver because I think that filling stadiums in red and swing states is a tangible metric that is at least correlated with general election support. I think that Trump is even more polarizing than AOC, and so her polarization isn’t as much of an issue as they make it out to be.

Yes, usually the default or most common method of aggregating posts is what people talk about when saying “the algorithm”

However, any method of sorting posts is by definition an algorithm. “top” is an algorithm, “new” is an algorithm, if you can compare two posts and have a method to choose which one to display first, that right there is an algorithm.

I’d actually argue that the “hot” algorithm is one of the more opaque ones. It sorts posts based on a composition of different metrics, and It’s unclear exactly what these metrics are and how they are combined.

It’s difficult to go from being extrinsically motivated to intrinsically. I would say this is good advice. Put yourself in a position where it is easy to succeed.

This means making and following a schedule for yourself, including a bedtime, a time to do your homework, and time to relax and unwind.

Make these ‘hard rules’ and track your streaks of good habits. I do the same thing foggy does, I have a rule that I must show up to every class, sit in the front center and keep my phone put away.

I also try to set aside half an hour every day to take a walk or meditate. If you haven’t yet, seek out a therapist. Find a place or a (willing) person to talk about your day, your goals, and your progress.

And most importantly: remember, you are the one who knows yourself best, you get to choose and implement your own strategy to take control of your life. It will only work if you make it work. You got this.
